Where can you get the PC Link wire. I wold rather spend the extra to buy that to do updates than send my ESC out and have to wait and miss racing.

bring it on 11-29-2011 06:43 PM

As what i understand, viper is getting all new 1/8th motors"4 pole"

Any Viper dealer should have these in stock or you can get one at A Main Hobbies

There is a 2 day turn around time for firmware upgrades. For example if you send it in Monday morning we will be shipping it out tuesday afternoon. If you have PC link wire then i can send you the firmware and the program to upload into the ESC, its a 2 step process :)

Just wanted to make sure that http://eazyrc.com/viper-brushless-rc...p-torque-rotor <- that rotor will fit in a 17.5 motor. Also if anyone has tried it, what were the results ... Thanks :D

How important are the firmware updates? I am running three systems and sending them in would not be so fun.

They are helpful but not 100% necessary. The are a few updates to the calibration, and Smart Braking system (Dynamic Braking). Send them back one at a time, the turn around is pretty quick.

it will fit... I have tried it in a 17.5, our motors are pretty torquey to begin with. Maybe if you race at a really small track.

Thanks for the reply. I'm thinking it will be able to be geared to the moon with this combo. Or would over heating still be a factor?

So*Cal - it might be hard to do if you are running the SC I think you are - the gearing options are kinda limited. Good thought, but it might be all bottom end and no top - depends on the type of track (layout, etc). I actually wanted to try the RPM rotor with it - but I only rarely run 17.5.

It will actually be going in my Dads SC10. It's a med. size out door dirt track HCR/ Palm Desert/ Thunder Alley. Going to be running no timing and no boost on the esc as well.

In my opinion at those track you mentioned, you should leave stock rotor or pop in a high RPM rotor and gear up. The VST motors especially the 17.5 already have enough torque to play with. Just my opinion
