Rick- VTX10/VST 17.5 combo can be purchased as a combo set and it includes the ProGauge for adjustments. If you ever plan on using the same speedo for a 4x4 SC then get the VTX10R. You can get that in a combo as well.

Just have the guys from Bumps contact me, they can order it directly from us.

I have a 8.5t with 1, 5 min qual on it and it now has a dead spot. It was in a LCG slash geared 18/84 on a large 1/8th track. I took it our of the truck and if I spin the shaft by hand sometimes it will start sometimes it wont. If it does run it is fine, as long as I dont let the motor stop spinning. What would cause this? Temp when it came off the track was 140 motor, 95 esc and like 70 battery. Did I over heat it? Sensor board bad? Any help will be great!

wingnut - I am wondering if something got inside the motor? Dirt, debris? If you are are experienced in re-building brushless motors maybe unscrew the shaft end and use blow out the internals with a air can or compressor. Keep track of all the parts, spacers and springs. If you don't have the experience or want a more detailed solution, go to the website and fill our and RMA form to return it to the home office so they can check it out.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question but can you use a Castle mmp with a sensored viper 6.5 turn motor? I'm just not sure if they are compatible.

We are proud to announce a new firmware release after 6 months of testing. The latest new firmware A30 will have some new performance benchmark for drivers who demand the maximum performance on the tracks. The following were the updates on the version A30 from current factory firmware A19.
- New Radio Calibration Process. It will provide more precise and forgiving process with all radio systems in the market.
- Smart Brake System. We not only want you to run faster, but also to have better corner speed before the sweeper and in the infield. This refined Smart Brake System was proved to have better overall lap time during our testing. It is dynamic / proportional and 100% tunable for different track layouts.
- Additional Brake PWM Frequency options. It offers additional Brake PWM Frequency options down to 600Hz for stronger braking performance.
- Optimized Boost Performance. It was known to be Acceleration Boost Timing and Top Speed Timing on Viper VTX series ESC. The updated firmware that works with the most advanced on board MCU will give you a different feeling of the speed.
We will release the updated user manual and the A30 firmware on the web site this week. If you have Viepr PC-LINK, you could go download the document and firmware to update your VTX10/10R ESC. We also offer free firmware updating service for customers who do not have Viper PC-LINK. Please contact us at [email protected] for details.

Where can I find info on the Viper PC Link? I don't see it on the Viper site.

Also - what's the main difference between the VTX10R and the VTX1? looks like the VTX1 is smaller and not rated for 3S? Is that it?

nikos2002 11-29-2011 12:54 PM

The VTX1 is designed to work with 1s applications.

The PC Link is just in its engineering stage right now, the cable itself is available to order from your favorite Viper retailer. Then you can contact the home office or one of the reps on here to get the engineering software to update your VTX.

By engineering software, I mean its really basic - just lets up update the VTX. We are working on a commercial version of the software that will let you make changes like the progauge and have some other goodies with it as well.

Nikos, I am gonna open the motor up and see what I find. I will report back. Thanks.

If I send in my esc for the firmware update how long does it usually take?

wingnut73 11-29-2011 01:51 PM

I pull the motor apart, didn't see anything in it. I Blew it out and put it back together. Hooked it up and works like a champ! Thanks Nikos.

There is a 2 day turn around time for firmware upgrades. For example if you send it in Monday morning we will be shipping it out tuesday afternoon. If you have PC link wire then i can send you the firmware and the program to upload into the ESC, its a 2 step process :)
