Yes it was!

Sweet, the Copperhead system looks fast and strong on that layout. How long is the straight?

Couple of vids of me running the 4 pole combos at a championship race in Jefferson City, MO. Qualified better than I ran in the mains, lol. Love these combos!!

I'm not sure man, sorry.

So I finally got to actually use my Copperhead system. ( I bought it about when they released...during winter )
Track opened first race was yesterday, it ran great. It got too hot for my liking though. Tight 1/10 outdoor track that dusts up pretty fast. I'm using a Losi SCTE Ten. I was running 15t pinon. My motor was 190 after the 5minute A-main. ( Probably around 160 after all the other qualifings 5 minutes for all races..but I made it from B main to A main so It didnt get a lot of time to cool down ) Should I throw a 13T pinion in there? I have 12-17t in my box-o-crap. There was one step up uphill double right out of a loose turn that i could not clear. I'm running profile 2 modified with 0 timing and no reverse. Edit: Oh and to answer my own question from a few pages ago I bought a savox Savox SC-1258TG High Speed servo worked perfect. |
-oops double post-

I would go with the 13 and make sure you have no driveline binding issues.
|
4500kv sorry. No binding issues. rolls like butter with the motor out.

4500 u should be 13-14 pinion Max. I would try a 13 and let us know how it works out.
Actually went to swap to 13t somehow buggered up and cross threaded the top bolt that locks the sliding motor mount in place doh! Ordered a new motor mount and some screws for my scte. Race again sunday will report on how it does on 13t |

Also, what profile/settings are you using?
Reverse off |

1st place with a viper vtx10r in a kyosho sc-r :
http://www.myrcm.ch/de/rcc-salzgitte...SC2/index.html My 10 years old son ;) - Ok he won also 1:8 Buggy (Durango DEX408), 1:8 Truggy (Losi 2.0T-E) and 1:10 Buggy (Durango DEX410 - also Viper VTX10R powered) on the same day but SCT was the hardest class of this local hobby funcup. http://www.myrcm.ch/de/rcc-salzgitte...ggy/index.html |
There are still some bad Copperhead systems out there.... Plugged in my programer and set to race mode... Jammin scrt10,, 13 t pinion, 2 cell Gen Ace 5300 65C. Third lap on stock tires. motor let go... Magnet spinning on shaft... large outdoor track. Drove 2 1/2 hours to get this.... nice
Have RMA sending it back. Another 2 weeks i don't get to run...... |

Profile 2 timing all the way down
Reverse off Doing the math calculating for 8.0v with a 4.15" tire you are right at the same over-all mph of 42.5mph, which unless you have a real long strait is kind of high. You are more than likely lugging the motor so much it will not perform 100%. FYI - comparing the R.45 to the R.51 motors, when in the Losi SCTE, the gearing works out that you need to be 2T apart to achieve the same speed. R.45 Gearing / 40T Spur / 8.0v / 4.15 Tires 15T = 42.8mph 14T = 39.9mph 13T = 37.1mph 12T = 34.3mph R.51 Gearing / 40T Spur / 8.0v / 4.15 Tires 15T = 49.0mph (NOT RECOMENDED) 14T = 45.8mph 13T = 42.5mph 12T = 39.2mph 11T = 35.9mph These trucks are VERY power hungry. They are heavy, 4wd, and have a giant parachute strapped to their back. That and combined with a 2s battery limit for the class, it ends up putting a tremendous demand on the ESC and motor. In testing, Viper has recorded peak amp draws of 160A and higher! It is very taxing on the system, so we recommend some testing and research before someone just goes out on the track. I recently raced at a event that had some pretty nasty track conditions (track was dry / dusty / loamy for qualifying and it started to rain - the mains ended up VERY muddy) and saw ESC problems from all the manufacturers that were represented there. The biggest reason why? The people with failures were not compensating for the track conditions. They were not changing gearing / tires, etc..... for the build up of mud and dirt in the cars and tires. I myself finshed 2nd, with no ESC issues, but I ran BarCode tires in the mud so that they would not build up, and I turned the punch / timing down for the extra load. With power demands being so high (in comparison, one can dump a 6000mah battery in as short as 9 minutes in 4x4 SCT, you can run almost 40 minutes in a 2wd buggy with that much mah), all factors have to go into gearing / setting selection to get the most out of the system. |
