Currently building a SC10FT which has been a blast so far. Am curious about the best spur/pinion combination to use for with the Viper 17.5. The manual for the SC10 states for a 17.5 brushless setup to use a 28 pinion with a 75 spur for a FDR of 6.96:1. With that I bought a 78T spur. My LHS did not have a 75 at the time so I got a 78.
With the Viper 17.5 and a 78 spur what pinion would you guys recommend I use? Doing the math I am thinking about a 29 pinion which would give me a FDR of 6.99. Also looking at getting a 27 for a FDR of 7.51 just to be able to change things up. Am I headed in the right direction?

One of our team drivers (Royce Berrio) ran 78-28 at the J Concepts Fall Indoor Champs in his SC10FT. Finished 2nd, after starting in the back of the pack and fighting through the field. Might be a good place to start. Maybe 27 for the first run to make sure everything is working ok and check temps - go up from their depending on what you see on track.

We had a few product releases at iHobby, not sure if you guys saw the list. Those two red/black motors behind the 540 4 pole are the 5.0 and 6.0L 550's, sensored. Not listed is the AIR ESC's and new motors for air planes. Knock, knock, who's there!
