Currently building a SC10FT which has been a blast so far. Am curious about the best spur/pinion combination to use for with the Viper 17.5. The manual for the SC10 states for a 17.5 brushless setup to use a 28 pinion with a 75 spur for a FDR of 6.96:1. With that I bought a 78T spur. My LHS did not have a 75 at the time so I got a 78.

With the Viper 17.5 and a 78 spur what pinion would you guys recommend I use? Doing the math I am thinking about a 29 pinion which would give me a FDR of 6.99. Also looking at getting a 27 for a FDR of 7.51 just to be able to change things up. Am I headed in the right direction?

One of our team drivers (Royce Berrio) ran 78-28 at the J Concepts Fall Indoor Champs in his SC10FT. Finished 2nd, after starting in the back of the pack and fighting through the field. Might be a good place to start. Maybe 27 for the first run to make sure everything is working ok and check temps - go up from their depending on what you see on track.

current limiter..

is there a current limiter function on the esc(like the tekin?)
from the proguage there is a setting for the forward(throttle) percentage .. is dat it? or does it work like EPA from the controller's adjustment?

thanx

so the forward power is like the EPA. throttle punch is the current limiter?
i read in some Tekin related threads(RX8), setting to 80~90% improves the runtime without a noticable drop in power.. is it abt the same for the Viper esc?

thanx

Ok...I'm chompin' at the bit for the copperhead 4500 4 pole with the 5mm shaft combo...I'm hoping 1 of the viper guys could give me the part number & a round about date of when they should be available please. Thank you!

Or depending on the size of your track you could get the VX4R51 5mm shaft :sneaky:

Tested this motor last night at my local track, came home and sold the Pro 4 4600Kv on rctech

We had a few product releases at iHobby, not sure if you guys saw the list. Those two red/black motors behind the 540 4 pole are the 5.0 and 6.0L 550's, sensored. Not listed is the AIR ESC's and new motors for air planes. Knock, knock, who's there! :tire:
