You are the only one blowing caps cult. I cant understand why. Send it back again. What batteries are you running? and check the spec on the servo see what voltage it is. This is a very isolated issue. post a pic please....

HI,

I have a problem, my motor VST 8.5T is really hot. with the ESC VTX10 set at 220* for motor cut-OFF, my car stop on the track.

I have basically the profile 2 (with some modifications on the braking).
I drive a losi22 with pinion 23 on a track in astro. final ratio = 8

What should I do? I'm the only one in France in my club have the Viper

i run a losi scte, a hitec 7950 servo. This is the first time i blew a cap none of the less both lol and running xcelorin 6000 60c batt. Can the tekin caps work and ya i have my endpoints set right. It worked great in the first qual so i went up on my gearing and turned the throttle punch from 18 to 16 and then in my 2nd qual my car stopped and smelled like rubber and noticed the caps were gone.

Race Results

Went racing indoor last night, there was a new guy with a e-8th that was fast, he had me worried.;) Again my 2050kv viper powered Caster Racing buggy ran flawlessly.

Anyone happen to have a release date on the 1/8th scale speedo or is the VTX10R it for 4s? ROAR 1/8th e nats are at my home track and a ROAR regional race the following month, I'm getting ready to put a buggy together and want to order electronics soon.

The vtx10r is not recommended for 1/8 scale use. As of right now, team drivers are testing the 1/8 esc with great results but is not available yet.

Maybe they will send me one and I can test it out at the ROAR E Nats in about 8 weeks :D:nod:

Today I received the Viper 8,5T motor. I will use it in my durango 410 4wd on small and mid-sized tracks. Can you recommend a good starting point for the gearing ? (and ESC-setup for the VTX10)

Try runnig a 24. It seams high, but viper motors like a little mor gear:sneaky:. Run it for 3 minutes and temp it, that way you know where to go from there.

21 or 22 pinion with 87 spur, preset profile 2 on the esc

This is exactly the pinion I will try ... I use profile 2 but changed to 0 timing. Is it possible to add some timing on a larger track or will the motor get too hot ?

savageboy69 07-17-2011 01:40 PM

I keep hearing that u have to gear up on pinion but I ended up running 2 teeth lower from ny previous esc and motor.to.keep cool, I need to find a new setup to get some.more rip out of it, right now I'm.at 19/78 in my scr, 30 degrees motor timing, 10 top speed, 10 timing advance, top end is ok, wouldnt mind more but I don't have that bottom end punch I'm looking for
