bluegroovelosi - what do you have the temperature protection settings at the for the motor and esc. Generally need to be set around 220 - 230. Remember they read internally off the rotor and circuit board of the systems they are measuring and can be 40-60 hotter than what you get outside the case. So if you set the motor cut off to 160 or 180, it may be too low, and cutting off early.

+1 I had the same problem with my VTX10R. I had temp protection set to 180 and it kept shutting down. When I would check the motor the temp was sitting at 120. Bumped protection limit up to 230 and it fixed the problem.

Anyone run modified Viper motors 6.5 - 10.5 turn, and how are they performing?

I run the 7.5 in my dex410 w/ the vtx10r be. I love it. I have 2 vtx10r's and one vtx10. They all work great.

Bonded rotors in VST 17.5?

Hey guys,
I notice in none of the ads fir the VST motors does it say "sintered rotors". I know the VST are more inexpensive than many brands. Do they cone stock with bonded rotors? The way the early LRP X11 had bonded rotors?

nikos2002 01-24-2014 03:37 PM

yes the rotors are bonded.

I'm running an 8.5 in my buggy and I have a VTX10R I set the profile on #2, but in the protection mode I have my battery cut-off set to 6.4v (3.2v) my esc temp to 220 and my motor at 180 does this sound right.

Motor temp cutoff is too low. The system measures internal temp, which is higher.

So what temp is a good starting point?

DustinH 01-24-2014 05:29 PM

Around 220 is about as low as you can go if you drive hard.

I'm having issues with my viper 10r BE just stopping with just a red light. Sometimes it will work again after 30 seconds and it reboots on its own. I've even disabled the motor cutoff and it still does it.

Anyone have any thoughts or advice?

silvalis 01-26-2014 01:05 AM

Which red light?

The one that stays on if I turn off my Futaba. It mainly just shuts off on me then reboots itself and turns back on.

The only error code that causes a reboot is low voltage cutoff. Check the setting you are using. PM me if you have more questions be glad to answer.
