Hey guys..
I am in the market for a new system and was wondering if anyone has paired their VTX-8 with the Tekin 4300 HD and what their experience has been? I am tired of waiting for the RX8's to get in stock and the VTX8 looks great on paper. I have the copperhead 4.5 system in my SCTE now but am having some issues with the ESC cutting power to the motor for 20-30 sec at a time. I am willing to entertain the idea that my experience is an isolated incident and that a beefier esc made specifically for the higher amp draw motors will not have the same issues. Anyone running this combo at their track? What are the temps that you see? motor/esc? Thanks in advance for your reply. |

For blinky 17.5 I run this
pwm 5000mhz (can't remember exact number but closest one to 5000.) Punch 100% 45 deg endbell timing (Viper VTS 17.5t with std rotor) Geared 34/69 Shorty battery (50c 4300mAh) B4.1 Orion 5000 and gearing way wrong with a 37/69 which I will change to 34/69. Both are running 10r's and vst17.5's. will a shorty pack change anything besides handling and weight? Also should I change to a six or nine pack cap? I am thinking about making the 4.1 a mod buggy with a vst9.5. Would need gearing help for that also. |
Well you don't switch to the Pro6, you add it along with the std cap.
Try my settings and gearing. Don't judge by the straight away. Judge by lap times and temps. Keep your temps under 150. The lower the better but 150 is safe. Pro9 is for the 8th scalers |
Please just remember that the new Pro9 and Pro6 caps are additional capacitors you can add to your speed control. Not replacements. Do not remove other capacitors to put these on.

I just seen them. I will be trying the gearing and settings before I change anything else. Thank you again

Haven't heard the new HD, but I know lots of people use the Pro4's with our system, and your limited in current settings like other mfg's suggest. shouldn't have any issues. With the Copperhead you have, sounds like its hitting low voltage cut off. Lower either the Punch or the motor timing slightly and try it out. |

Hey Guys, I'm sure this has been answered before but I spent 2 hours reading posts and didn't find and the search function I must have not used correctly as I found no answers.
Anyway I have a SCTE 1.0 running a brand new Copperhead 5150 system, 13/40 gearing, 2s 6600 60C lipo, Savox 1258, Spektrum RX, Novak Glitch Buster, no binding in the tranny at all, 5,5,3 in the diffs, I was at the track on Sunday and I was disappointed in the power. My buddy got the same set up and he was flying around the track. I tried a couple profiles and didn't see anything better than my Castle MMP/1410 (3800kv) 540 set up. What profile settings and set ups on the SCTE 1.0 are you running? I have the pro gauge so I can change up the profiles. I know this system is a monster as I have the copperhead 4500 system in my EXO Terra buggy and it flies so what could be wrong? Also temps were Motor 150 and ESC 130 after 10 min in 95 degree tight indoor track. Puffed one of my lipo's also! Just frustrated I must be missing something. I know it should just outright fly!! |
N8racer - it might sound funny, but your geared too high - your probably not in the power band of the motor - gear down and should see it launch more off the corners, right now its probably just kinda flat because its pulling all that gear. If you had a 4500 Copperhead I would think 13 is good gear, but 5150 on a tight track - try gearing down. I normally start with Profile 5 and adjust from their with the ProGauge. Smaller track maybe more punch than motor timing.

If anyone is looking for an unused VTX8, I have an extra that I need to sell.

is there any reason why you cant run only the pro6? the BE caps (which I have on my VTX10R) have 3 1000 theta-farad caps, and it appears the pro6 has 6 1000 theta-farad caps.
