Profile 2 is. Good start

Spec mode no boost none of that running profile 2 settings. Both throttle and brake frequency are as low as they go. Timing on the motor is stock so I'm assuming 30 degrees. Throttle punch 70. Motor power and brake at 100. No drag or dynamic brake of any sort.

I think the lower the throttle frequency the punchier it is but also more heat, not 100% though

I just called viper rc and spoke to one of their tech guys. The manual says the higher the frequency the more heat....and the manual is wrong. The rep confirmed higher frequency means less heat less punch and smoother. This should solve all my issues.

Good luck

Yea there is a typo in the manual. Lower makes the temps higher. Stay around 65 to 9600 for smooth reliable performance.

:cry:sorry to say i have to try out vipers warranty.working fine 1st and 2nd round.third round went out and checked in car came to stop it was all dead no thrittle or streerig switch would not turn on.sat in pits resoldered battery connections on speedo swtich worked.a main made couple laps to make sure all was ok.worked fine then 2minutes into the a main the speedo went up in smoke.hope their no trouble with warranty will find out.

olegeezer - go to the website and fill out the RMA form, they will help you out as quick as possible.

hole shot launch

how exactly does the 'hole shot launch' parameter work for VTX10Rs? The manual I downloaded from the Viper website doesn't cover this program option, it only shows it as an option in Table 2 of the manual.

Throttle/Brake PWM Frequency Set up

To avoid further confusion, please allow me to clarify these frequency parameters.

Higher Throttle PWM Frequency and Brake PWM Frequency = More switching lost = More heat on the ESC

There was no absolute rule for these PWM frequency set up. However, lower kv motors will be better to go with lower PWM frequency. For instance, VST17.5 could set the PWM frequency around 3000Hz to start. 13.5/10.5 could start around 4000Hz to 8000Hz.

For higher kv motors (VST2.5 to VST9.5), we'd recommend to stay with higher PWM frequency 8000Hz to 16000Hz.

The PWM frequency could be like computer CPU clock frequency. Higher clock speed usually means higher power power and higher power consumption, and high temperature.

The user manual was the corrct statement. Hopefully it helps!!

The Hole Shot Launch is a good feature for high traction races, for example 1/10 on road TC. If the parameter was set to 2 sec, you will get stronger start up power to launch the vehicle after holding full brake for 2 seconds. The higher value indicates correspinding period in seconds to enable the function.

Hopefully it helps!

Well gearing between a 4 pole and 2 pole motor is always different and so is the motor timing.

A few questions for Viper here:

Why not gone with a sensored slotless 2 pole design?
Offerings of bigger rotors?

Bigger rotors are on the way. Please stay tuned.

Please don't PM me regarding tech support.

Laloosh 08-11-2011 05:13 PM

Everyone tells me a different answer on this and even viper reps.can't get the same answer. Either way I raised both brake and throttle to 12k and the motor never went over 145 and I never thermaled. I was at 2k prior and couldn't even go over 8-10 min before the esc shut everything down.

Does anyone have any pics of the VTX10 mounted in a TLR 22? Looking for pics with mid motor car which may be a tough order but if you have pics of this ESC in rear motor car I would like to see them too.

Thanks
