I know its been asked before, and I did search the thread but what is the differences between the VTX10 and VTX10R? I was going to try a Tekin but leaning more towards the Viper now since it is available with the Pro Gauge meaning I would not have to buy the Hot Wire.

All I have ever used has been LRP ESCs

Thanks

I had my ESC on profile 4 for boosted 17.5

I was playing with setting due to low traction. How do I go back to full factory 17.5 boost settings?

Anyone have a good powerful 17.5 setup as well for 2wd medium traction buggy? Need it to be real smooth but scream on top more some long straights and large jumps.

Thanks

The 10r has twice as many FET's and no motor limit, The 10 has a 6.5 limit, All funtions and adjustment are the same between the two.

I have the 10r and am having some heating issues, is there a certain profile that you guys are using with the sc 4x4's to make sure it doesnt thermal and shut down? My set up is:
lrp x12L 4.5 that never temps more than 175. 12t pinion on 62 tooth spur. the esc is like 180-190 on the case when i get it back in the pits and temp. I think shut down is like 220 internal on these. Is that normal. What have you guys been getting temp wise?
thanks JT

let me guess its either in an AE sc104x or a scte

either or.. are you boosting or adding timing to the motor at all? what profile is the esc in? i dont get why people have to run 4.5 motors in these big trucks the 5.5 dose it just as well if not better and more efficient. and the 6.5 is EVEN better on smaller tracks.

I'm ready to buy the new 5.5xl and esc.....Viper hurry up please. Hope they put together a combo. Kinda pricey separate.

I'm so sick of Tekin this, tekin that at our track....they all praise it, yet half the time most of their stiff is at Tekin for repair.
My buddies tell me I'll never be happy unless running Tekin stuff...

Id be very interested in a good 17.5 setup for 2wd offroad buggies as well. I am getting closer to one but not quite there yet.

balancing "smooth" delivery and plenty of power is my issue. I want to get it back to stock and start over.

There is a long back straight I was feeding it slow to top speed then when it got to full throttle it would cut out, any ideas? My guess is it has something to do with the Throttle PW frequency that I set at 2000mhz but just realized now I should have changed it back... Oh and the esc was at about 140-150 and the motor was 120-130.. My esc's in the past have never gotten that warm...? Also running a 2s battery!! Profile #1 Spec offroad/no boost
I don't think 140/150 on the esc is hot, but that's a lot warmer then mine has ever gotten. I have not had mine over 100 but it's in a 2 wd sc truck with a 10.5 motor running boost and hase.t been over 70 degrees out door yet.

So is this a recommendation to use a slower motor here for an esc that is rated with no limit? NO timing, NO boost (profile: off road no boost) 80% on the EPA. My Kinetic was running about 50-60 deg. cooler than this. I think there is a problem greater than the motor turn. I have spoken to a few and there is no comparison in temps... this should not be thermally shutting down.
thanks, JT

What is your gearing? Your PWM? Your throttle profile?

I have the same problem in a 1:10 4wd durango buggy 6.5T .... same gearing 20T as with the lrp sxx tc V1 - result : thermal cutoff of the ESC (set to 230F !) profile 2 : no boost ,no timing, punch to 60 % !!!!. Outside temp of the ESC 150 F - motor 150F ...
