Our dates have changed. We are now leaving on the 19th and returning on the 26th. I will be keeping in touch with a few friends that will post updates as often as possible. It's finally hit me, how cool this trip is going to be. After talking to Tony, he's entering this race with loads of confidence. Devon, haven't heard from ya since the nats. Hope your getting ready. Wife gave me the O.K. to start practicing as much as possible. Ling built me an awesome car. Should be fun!

"Two Lightly-Tuned Motors (item #53893) to each Mini Sports 07 driver"

I wonder what motors they are referring to? When I do a search on 53893 all I find are TA05 parts.

Just figured it out.....I think the part should be 53983!

"GT Victory – GT Victory class is open to past Tamiya World Championship participants and Team TRF drivers."

I really like this class. My big question is "How can I go?" It'd be nice to know about this earlier as I could use an overseas vacation right about now.

It's been there since I know of '02 we have not been allowed access to the race though.......

In '02 the UK sent one driver over for the race also as "Advisor" to the team that went. In years previous I would prolly have gone if I could have just to help the US guys.

http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=53983

53893 is a typo, as the motor is 53983

They showed that motor off at a hobby show in the TA05MS or TA05IFS-MS i think, but it was said to be pretty bad. I searched our site and came right up!

This is Fred's response as of yesterday.
Time to cash in on a buch of frequent flier miles....

"Ling,

Tamiya Japan has just confirmed it. Any past U.S. trip winner that went to Japan can again participate in the TRF class if they make their own arrangements to get to Japan as well as their lodgings."

I recommend we change from Cheetahs to the Palimino Club.
A good friend of mine from high school is now the owner of that club. I can make it so that a race entry includes a free dance.

Good thing Juan won last year as it sounds like he would have "issues" after the email he sent out a few days ago.

Swifty is that "" from The Princess Bride?

Exclamation Sat. 10-27-07

Does anybody know if the Tamiya track is going to be open tomorrow?
The corporate office in Irvine has closed due to the smoke and bad air quality!
Inquiring minds want to know!

The motor is a 28t old stock motor style endbell (non rebuildable style) motor with stand-up brushes. the can looks like the new orion style can (same as element 2007 and revolution Oscar Edition). Judging by the pictures, it looks like it has 24 degrees of timing. I would assume it's hemi would on a 4mm armature because it's designed to be low rpm and high torque. i don't know if it's epoxy or drill ballanced or if it has bearings or bushings. because it's a cheap motor, it's probably not welded, hatted, or soldered. it sucks because tamiya america doesn't carry the brush that we're using. i need fred to give me a sample for further inspection. i don't know if it's allowed but i need to get my hands on an old style stock motor lathe. if anyone would be willing to let me borrow one it would be greatly appreciated.
