I got my shipment from Trey today. Besides my usual restocking parts I got two XXL T-shirts and some GXII low speed needles. Oh, and another GXII with the included rear ceramic bearing.

My markup on the shirts will be minimal.

The markup on the needles will be astronomical! (to make up for the shirts!)
Just Kidding!!!

(this stuff isn't on the site yet, so PM or Email me if you've been waiting)

whats the stock shimming on the GXII,same as the old engines?

still awaiting delivery of our GXII engines but the prototype one has been running very well until last weeekend where it cut about 6 times in the final..its finally broke in and lost its pinch and the idle dissapeared as you would expect..what i couldnt fathom out is that its gone mega rich on the bottom end and i have had to lean the lsn in by a full turn,i guess its in about 2mm from flush now.

ive put an old GX-R carb on it to test today to see if its the carb..only thing i can think of is that the lsn tip etc has got damaged by an over zealous pitman on needle duty causing it to not seat properly making it run rich.

Yes, stock shimming is .5mm (1 x .3 alloy and 1 x .2 copper).
Check everything external to the motor. If it's been running fine it's a lot more likely to be something other than the motor. One full turn in from it's normal position doesn't sound right. Tweaking the needles by that much when it has been running ok previously may explain the flame outs etc. I think you will find it is somethng external.

All the GXII's were hauling at our 2 day event over the weekend. Making wicked power, and sounding very sharp. Tuned mine in on Friday afternoon and never touched the needles again all weekend.
It was very cool and overcast all weekend, so the engines were making lots of power, which when added to a moisture laden sticky track made for a lot of fun
Made it directly into the A final for the first time, so I didn't care what happened after that . Just tried to keep out of the way of the gun drivers and cruised around to a 10th place finish. New 808 11 Spec and GXII-5RHO were superb, so a great weekend .

Default Venturi

Guys,

just wanna ask if anyone uses the 7 or 6.5 venturi? I have finished; 15 tanks or so my new GXII and wanted to race tune with a 6.5 venturi. Will the power drop? wanted to make the 10 minute quali without pit. Stock shimming.

Thanks,

Thanks,
I ran the 6.5mm venturi this weekend just gone, and the motor had power for Africa. Plenty of top end, and bottom end to lift the wheels if you got to heavy on the gas . Motor reached the 50 tank mark on Sunday.
You won't get super economy with only 15 tanks through, but you might be able to crack 9 minutes (dependant on driving style and track size). 10 min might be pushing it a bit too lean with that limited amount of fuel through.
I put a reasonable race tune on my HO at the 15 tank mark, and it was more than happy to go along for the ride.

Default 5/1/11 Results

After a record rain fall this spring in central New York the local track finally
opened the season yesterday. The track was supprisingly dusty and loose. Once I settled on a good set-up and finished tuning my new GX-5R it was time for racing. The first and second heats went well even with the engine still rich. This motor rips! Going in the the final I qualified 3rd in the A. I leaned the motor a little more and switched to a new set of tires. The engine ran perfectly throughout the entire main with tons of bottom end grunt and top end speed. A great first weekend for GO engines.

Hey man... Assuming you dont have an air leak- you're either running too lean, not enough shims, or plugs are not hot enough. Add a copper shim, go one step hotter on your plugs, or change fuel. You could also go with less nitro content on your fuel. Basically your plugs are getting too hot. This can be alleviated by reducing compression(add a shim), reducing nitro, or using a more heat tolerant plug. You could also richen your mixture.

Thanks,
I use the 6.5 venturi and have plenty of power, even with my epa set at 55%. 10 mins is no problem.

thanks trey! it did start acting up when i took the break in shim out, i use 97t plugs, i tried a 77t and did the same thing, so i put the break in shim back in, (seems to run great with it in). going to also change front bearing today.

glad to hear it. Re: bearings... while you're in there, put in a ceramic rear and make sure the front is double-sealed. You wont be disappointed

what plugs? I've found that OS P3 and odonnel 97T (or whatever their hot plug is) work best for me. This is with powermaster 30%, using one aluminum and one copper shim.
