i just ran my new argus a52 at the track in my HB stadium 2 pro truggy.
its my first race engine (i've only done 3 races). i was running a hpi RTR .21, so i have no comparison to other race engines. but, holy crap this thing is fast. i am completely blown away by how powerful it is  i was needing a wide line to clear jumps, now i can cruise up and punch it just before jumps and its easy as. i got it from a committee member at the track for $100 broken in with 7 litres run, and a spare conrod. i decided to get this instead of a new werks B5 and am really glad i did :) muz |
Nice.. They are great engines.. Especially with the 0801 like everyone says...

the 2035 is the only pipe i have, and havent timed run times yet, but i was doing 7-8 minute pits before so its gotta be an improvement on that. i'll post run times when i figure it out. the 2035 is good according to the guy that i bought it from, as he had a go to test it out. he also runs a52 with 801 pipe in a buggy.
i am up to page 50 something in this thread, and its a good read :) muz EDIT: also the straight isnt long enough to top it out |
i timed a tank at the track today and got 9 minutes. thats plenty for me and i dont think i'll bother upgrading to an 801 pipe. the 2035 is more than fine for me

i'm having trouble with my argus in my sc8.. it seems as though its not producing any punch on the throttle which sounded as though the motor is running rich but I didn't touch the needles esp when my sc hits something or turn upside down just wondering why??please shed some light on this matter..
thanks. |
What pipe, what clutch?

No punch and you didn't touch the needles. Are you saying that it ran good and then out of the blue it starting running rich? Sounds like the engine finally broke in. Touch those needles. :D
Is your engine fairly new? My Argus A52 suddenly became super-rich, exhibiting those signs at around the 1,5 gallon mark. One or two hours on the HSN and a touch on the LSN and it came back to life. Assuming that's the case, you will now finally see the engine unleashing it's full potential |

I tried several pipes on my Argus, before finally breaking down and getting the 0801. I had to order it from the other side of the planet, and it cost a bit, but honestly, it really was worth it. It makes the engine run really, really nicely..

Does Argus even exist anymore in Europe (or the US for that matter)?
I'd REALLY like a .23.... |

I'd REALLY like a .23.... ARGUS Wins! in Waikato Making it's debut at the 2012 Waikato Champs, the biggest off road event held in New Zealand, the new Argus .23 A52 powering the Agama A8T of Argus team driver Adrian Lorenzen, quickly made their mark on the event. At the top of the time sheets during the weekend, the .23 A52 performed flawlessly. Taking the lead early in the 60min final Adrian was able to comfortably make 9 min pit stops gaining a further advantage over his rivals. Adrian finished with a time of 83/1h0m24.531s , 2 laps ahead of 2nd place. Only a mechanical issue to the buggy of team driver Kent Perry could stop a clean sweep for Argus engines. Leading for most of the buggy final with his Argus B52, the cruel blow came with only minutes left from the finish, forcing Kent to pit for repairs. He rejoined shortly after and finished a creditable 4th. |

The ebay.co.uk Apexmodels link says no shipping to Germany. Makes me think that Alpha has maybe clamped down on distribution. I mean, Argus was being sold by a shop in Austria for the Austrian and German market, but that dried up. Alpha is fairly big here. I can imagine something happening behind the scenes to keep Argus out of the game. I mean, since word was out that Argus was basically just a cheaper Alpha.. Whatever the case, noone is selling Argus in Europe except a couple UK shops - afaik... |
Is the Argus B52 more or less identical to an Alpha A852?
