I had a few people asking about it as it was the first one we have had ran at our track. The price break of these engines are appealing to many racers. I am pumped and cannot wait to dial it in total....:sneaky:

Run one carbon shoe, clutch will last alot longer. 1.0's shouldn't be too bad, we actually ran .9's when we ran a Go .25.

But everything went very smooth. By the end of the day had a really good handle on the engine. I was very pleased with the top end of this engine. I had plenty of speed on the straight. I ran a 2081 on it. I need to keep working on getting a little more bottom end grunt for the big jumps on the track. Wanting to try a 801 pipe on it next. Just have to find one....

The Argus engine lived up to its billing on this thread and the positives I have heard about it. Excited to see how this thing does as it finishes breaking in and I get a full tilt tune on it.

Argus will be my engine of choice for sure this season!

If you are running it slightly rich on the low end, you won't have as much punch at low RPM. Once broken in fully and running crisp, you'll gain more bottom end.

I have one GO 801 left. I'll admit the plating on these isn't perfect (I'm confident that's why they're working on a black anno one). PM me for a good price if you are interested.

On April 28th, Team Drivers; Richard Allen and Jamey Jenkins take to 1st and 2nd postions in open buggy with there Argus powered Z10xb buggies. This was at JD's Extreme R/C in Mocksville, NC.

Jonathan (me), also had a great day, but missed the podium, taking 4th place in Expert buggy with his Argus powered Z10xb.

anyone know the bearing size for both front and rear?
Also, I was looking at the picture of the alpha 2081 pipe and comparing it with my Dynamite platinum 007HT. Has anyone tried it with the 007?

22Racer 05-03-2011 02:46 PM

Bearings are the very common 14x25.4 and 7x19. I have a 007 but never tried it on the Argus, never really liked the pipe I guess.

Running the bottom too lean or also too rich will make the engine lose bottom end so check it both ways.1.0s are perfect for truggy with the argus in my opininon. You should be fine with that clutch setup. We run 1.0 with ours in out truggies and it has insane bottom end and snap:nod:

Well got race weekend #2 under the Argus's belt. This weekend was that weekend where you ride the roller coaster of nitro racing. Started the day still needing some more bottom end just like the previous week. With the help of my racing partners we were able to get a great tune on the engine. Ran the fastest and most consistent laps I ever have at that track. I had qualified 3rd in expert truggy but took the lead for the first 6 min of the 20 min main. Truck ran great. Then I lost a tie rod screw and it took me out of the hunt. But the Argus engine ran great.

We have a guy at our track getting a Clocked Argus....looking forward to seeing that thing run.

I just bought this engine, at the moment I m going to break it in. Just want to ask which plug is best for this engine and what the usual temp for racing tune? I ll be using Tornado 25% fuel and I live in a hot and humid tropical asian country in an almost sea level elevation.

Thanks.

Well I am using OS P3 plugs in my Argus. Has ran really well on them. I know from what has been talked about in this thread that Voodo #5 plugs also are good in the engine.

Racing in Hot and Humid Kansas weather my Argus has been in the 240 to 250 range and has really started putting out some power. My engine has right at a gallon on it now and it is starting to rip.

Thanks, do you guys find that OS P3 plugs are fragile I mean last race I was using it in another engine with max temp of 250, the plug only lasted for that race, after that the performance is degrading especially on the idle side. With this engine I wanted to try a little bit colder plug like OS P6. What do you guys reckon?
