We've had some dyno testing going on with different pipes. Still have a few more to have tested, but we will let everyone know the results once completed.

Yep, these engines are fast engines for sure. And now with a lot of them with over 6 gallons and still going strong , they have also proven to be reliable mills:) I'm curious on the pipe testing as well on the dyno. The 2081 and F0801 are great pipes on the Argus. We will see if there are any other pipes that work as well.
We have tested these engines next to many other high end engines and they actually are faster than most that we tried or just as fast. Lance RcRenew.com |
Pipes
Anybody tried a 2072 pipe yet. If you have what were the results........

Got through two tanks so far tonight. Here are my thoughts so far:
1. Got a ton of pinch. I went ahead and installed the .1 shim and had to break the glow plug loose to start it on both tanks. 2. Engine has ran very well after I got it started. Gone through my break in very smooth. 3. The pinch was so strong it forced me into a new starter box. My old Silver top just did not have the guts to start this engine. Had to go get the Ofna Blue box with the big motors. That thing can turn over about anything. Really has helped in breaking in this engine. I am pleased with the Argus. Breaking it in with a P3 plug. Want to get some Vodoo #5 plugs. Hoping to run one more tank tonight....the neighbors are getting a little grumpy. Jeff |

The 2035 is the kind of pipe that will work good on just about any engine, but optimum for none.
The 2039 though, I think will be a good pipe for this motor. Let us know how it works out. |

Will do as soon as i get a chance to run been working so havwen't gotten to get out lately.... As for the 2035 not being the best pipe for any motor it's hard to say as i just keep on coming back to this pipe on most of the motors i've run as i like the feel of it so i can't agree with your statement about it...
Quite honest, I think the 2035 is a great "go to" pipe on any engine. I ran it on 3 different engines last year (7 Port Orion CRF, O'donnell SS.21, and a Reedy) and it worked great on all. On each engine there are pipes that out perform it (2013 on the Orion, R2 on the SS, and a 2039 on the Reedy) but they all were 95% optimized with the 2035. |

Ran an Argus/Jammin JP4 combo in the Tamiya truggy this weekend. I am only just starting to get a proper race tune on the engine after break in. Although it was very hot on Sunday, I still needed to preheat or it would lock up at TDC, so still lots of pinch.
From the start I was immediately on the pace, and had plenty of power all round. I was not lacking anywhere, and could clear the jumps from even when I was turning inside someone. I was able to take the TQ and win at a track I had only been to once before. In the final I was pushing the 10mins, but was running on fumes when i was called in at 9:30. So I am not quite able to do 10mins at the moment, although the track was loose. I am very impressed by the motor, and cannot see any power drop from my RB B9 that I was running before. Hopefully, once it is leaned off more and bed in, then 10 mins will be easy in a truggy. However, one of the mounting lugs has sheared off, has anyone else had this problem? there are no marks of any impacts on the head that could have caused this. Recommend highly, even though this one may be broken, I am definitely getting another one and fixing this one. Scott |
I am not aware of any failures so far with the Argus engines thus far. If you broke an engine mounting tab off. Check your clearance underneath the engine under the mount. On some vehicles the mounts hit the bottom of some engines. That would cause a broken mounting tab.
