It's interesting you say the R8 is illegal. I have gotten conflicting information. MES ports are not counted as ports is what I have been told by some. Several of the GT legal motors are 5+2's so are MES Ports legal or not. Last time I talked with ROAR, almost 2 years ago, I couldn't get a straight answer. It's frustrating. Example below of description of PICCO GT motor. It has MES ports just like R8.
Torque .21 EMX-GT Cer highlights • 5 ports + 2 bypass hard chromed liner • CNC machined billet piston • Balanced 14mm turbo cranckshaft with silicone insert • Super aligned "Knife edged" aerodynamic connecting rod • Separate large size turbo combustion chamber insert • 14mm ceramic Swiss quality main bearing • Bigger super lightweight cooling head • Composite slide carburetor • 7.0mm and 9.0mm venturi inserts |
R8 head shims
Hi guys, I just got a R8 with the Tb1 pipe. Was wondering if anyone could let me know break in needle settings and was wondering if the extra shim in the box is for break in ? At the moment its got 3 0.2mm shims from factory.
|
I usually run the engines in at about flush or slightly in from flush on the hsn. The Lsn about 1mm out from flush. Head shimming should be 2x .2mm and one .1mm.
When you are ready to tune it the idle gap should be .7mm, lsn about .5-1mm out and in from flush on the hsn. Rex |

I think the timing would be close but there is no way of knowing without measuring it up and checking timing.

Hi anyone out there still running Argus?
the price to performance ratio is pretty awesome. I just sold my sh engine and am looking at some budget engines. I found the A5 and the B52 is within my price range. A5 in the buggy and B52 in Truggy is a good idea? Thanks. |

Looking to get a new connecting rod for my Argus K3 but the part number #AG21-MO51 isn’t available to me locally, so wondering if the R8 connecting rod would work #AG21-M0062 in the k3 or are they different length?

Rw mod did review on k3 and said it was same as d3 like I thought. I remember dragon 2 people said you could use a d3 rod on it it was just revised to be stronger or something if I remember right someone telling me that. but yea see if lutzrc has alpha dragon 3 rod. If not the 4 might fit but not sure. https://www.lutzrc.com/product-page/...d-21-dragon-iv Lutz has dragon 4 rod it might fit but not sure maybe send lutz a message |
