Looks like Alpha is now making the Lutz engine rebadged for Argus.

rider313 08-24-2013 04:57 PM

Doesn't like exactly like a lutz tho. Similar yes. Kinda like a cross between the two.

Nice...

So is the R8 identical to a Lutz then? And for that matter the .23 to an Alpha?

22Racer 12-18-2013 05:10 PM

I have not seen any of the engines yet, there is 4 different models. The R8 looks similar to the Lutz but looks like the A852 case.

Rex

When did the flame out happen like after a high speed pass. you can have you tune off. and the bottom can be loading up. if it after the pit fill rev the car as the pitman fill it up. kinda need more infor as to when it flames out. you could have a lean top rich bottom which will cause it to flame out by it loading up with full. this happens cause at a low speed the motor can not burn the extra fuel and oil of in time.

So what is the deal with the r8 is it like the lutz. if it like the lutz then that would be more of a truggy engine. Right now im looking for an engine with a smooth bottom for buggy. the kinda of smooth that you over drive the car and kill the triples easy. i got a new buggy in the works i have engine but im gonna shoot up for one of these. i do have an extra 0801 pipe. so if that alpha pipe don't work. i wold like some input on a engine pipe combo.. i also have a werk 2058. jp pipe and dynamite 53 and 007 pipe. thanks guys.

Start off with the 0801 pipe. that was my goto pipe on all my Alpha motors. And these Argus motors are very similar to Alpha. As far as other pipes I ran the Assiocated 2035 and it worked well also. I know I may catch some grief on this but steer clear of all JP pipes they will work but they tend to turn motors into fuel hogs from my experience.

Ive tried a lot of different pipes on my lutz. My go to pipe is the Ofna 086. It runs like the 0801 but a tad more power everywhere in the powerband. Mileage is around the same too. That pipe turns it into an animal with such an angry note to boot. If you have one laying around, give it a try.

Ok guys Thanks but what motor for the buggy with smooth power.

hmmm sorry about that. I really don't know the Argus line and Rex should be able to chime in on that. If not, I would think a 2058 or the new lutz pipe would be good to smooth out the bottom on the R8 since it is based on the Alpha Lutz. Others may have some different opinions though.
