Stronger than the virtus? Wow. I looked at novas, but this is my first yr running nitro and I didn't want to mess one of those up ($$$). I may get one for trug next year. Was just looking at them this morning.
When looking at motor specs, how do you determine a speed vs torque motor, etc.?

I second the suggestion on the Elite 8. I was always a 7-port guy in Truggy, running stock and modded versions of the Bonito, and the the blue head Paloma, but the Elite 8 very well be my favorite motor for Truggy yet. Right behind that, I'm liking the Legend 25. Its kinda a toss up between the two, but I give the Elite 8 a slight advantage between the two.

It does everything good. The power band is the most usable that I've come across. Its always there when you need it. The Elite 8 is not a screamer on the top end like the Bonito, but it got all of the top that you'll need.
I learned a lot from Neal at TNS over the years about motors, and one of the best tips that he has given me is to not run the top too lean. Many racers, including myself, habitually do this in an attempt to get fuel mileage. Doing so definitely leads to premature bearing failure as they need the fuel to maintain seal and keep dirt out, and overall less life expectancy.
Getting back to the Elite 8.....I love mine! on the right pipe/mani combo, it rocks, its easy to tune, and I still make the 10 min mark on most tracks with a relatively conservative tune.

Do a little more searching - I THINK it's based off a very old design they released in 2005 or so.

I'm not sure if Neal has any pics of the 8 internals before modification, but the crankshaft part no is the same that was in the 21-4C and one of the versions of the 4BTT I think, but without the letter "T" (15007/15007T). Could be a small difference, could be a huge one.....who knows!
