What exactly do you tune on the MITOS? I know they say tuned from nova. I was looking at the MITO 4 or probably the MITO 7 if I gave you my engine how much would you charge to tune it ?

on the Mito 4 I enlarge the exhaust port as well as some edge work to the crank ..gives the engine more power and RPM.. on the 7 its the same crank work and some flow work to the sleeve....

what does that usually go for and if I buy the break in/pre run model, when I send it to you do I need to break it in again past what I'd have to do normally due to the mods?

Oh my gosh, today's motors compared to my Rex P5X. Here below is the Novarossi RX21P5XS specs I found in the Out of Production area of the website which is like the same as the PR21P5X which is mine:

Displacement: 3,50 cc
R.P.M. (max power): 31.000 RPM
Practical range: 6.000-36.200 R.P.M.
Bore x stroke: 16,26x16,80 mm
Sleeve: 5 ports
Rear ball bearings: steel
Front ball bearings: steel
Crankshaft: 14 mm - Turbo SG
Carburetor: plastic - 8 mm - slide.
Glowplug: Standard (C6S)
Exhaust position: rear
Starting: -
Weight: -
Fuel type: 25% nitro

Pretty much any Nova motor I have been looking at peak power is 36,000 rpm + and has more like the 40,000 upper practical range and have bigger carbs and turbo plugs and I would expect better tolerance and wear over my 10 year old designs.

I have a nova 5p xl . What are the safe and Max operating temps? Thank you.

rcmoe 09-20-2015 06:58 AM

elite 5

Whats the difference between the stock version and this tuned version I've heard of? I went on the Nova site and saw no such thing of a tuned version or is this so called tuned version something you just send to some mod guy to have done?

Temp is measure during break in, when performance is needed, as long as smoke coming out from pipe on acceleration n hold consistent tune then is good to go.

Tuned version i believe refer to work done on crankshaft, p5 just stock, tuned version need to buy from modder

Very close to the P5XLT. in a 1 to 10 scale, the Elite would be a rated plus one on everything the P5 was rated... Good, smooth, usable power with low fuel consumption. May not be the biggest bouncer in the bar, but it can hold it's own. Especially in that $200 price range....

What he said.. but if you are concerned and not sure were you tune is, and there is not another soul in sight to ask... 260 is about max. But that doesn't take into consideration the main factors that play into engine temps, nitro %, ambient air temp, humidity, air density, altitude.

Keep in mind, that on a day that is 45 degrees outside, your engine will run cooler period. On a hot day, it will run hotter. That is why it is more important to tune by performance and smoke trail than by temps.

Probably one of the best values for a .21 racing engine out there, if you shop around you can find them on fleabay for ~160 bucks.

Hello, need info re head button shims on the mito4. I have said motor from Murnan and it came with 0.5mm shims. The nova exploded diagram shows 0.8mm shims. So I'm a little confused as to how many shims I should be running on this motor. I use 30% Nitrolux fuel. Thanks.

Type of track and soil of surface will have an impact as well.
