NOVAROSSI Engine thread....

I have a question about the 21 4c. I used a peice of .6 piano wire to set the idle gap ( with venturi out) And if i try and tune the bottom without touching the idle gap i have to run the bottom so rich. about 3 turns out from flush. I am having no issues with closing the idle gap and leaning the bottom though. Good idle consistent and strong pull and even smoke stream. I looked at a factory novarossi drivers engine and he was about a 1/2 turn in from flush on the low speed. Basically i am just wondering why they say .6 idle gap when it seems that nobody is running that. Just a thought i was pondering in my head.

Ok. I am coming from a werks motor. With there motor you set the idle gap then never touch it again. I figured the 214c was the same. I have to say I have a gallon through this motor and love it :-)

once you get it set you won't have to touch it to much other then to fine tune for weather conditions but it only takes a slight adjustment with a nova carb. Once I was close on my LSN it only takes less then an hour either direction to adjust it and then if needed I will adjust idle stop but not very often.

Where are some of your guys needles at on your Plus 4 Teams? Tyler's has about a little over 2 gallons on it now and was just curious to see if I'm close.
Is it true on these if you are on rich side of LSN during pit, it will load up bad? Last time we ran Tyler's, I richened LSN a little before main and it loaded up twice. Flamed once and he got it to come out of it the other time? It is a TLR 8 2.0 buggy too. Gonna lean LSN back to where I had and see what happens.
We are new to Nova and loving them so far.
TIA!!

Yep, Novarossi engines needs close to a lean LSN. If the idle speed drops in RPM after 10-20 sec. of idle, its too rich. Remember very small adjustment on the needles. For finetune its max 1/12 of a turn - otherwise you'll mess up the tune.

Sounds like you are just slightly rich on the LSN. Lean it out a touch. If it starts to short bog coming off idle, or just not smooth transition from idle to low to mid range then its lust slightly to lean, open the LSN slightly 1/24th to 1/12 of a turn and go from there. You may have to adjust your idle stop screw a hair to to bring the idle back up slightly.
at 2 gallons, it also sounds like your motor may have just broke in too. Meaning that both needles might need a sighty leaner adjustment. Its a nice feeling when a Nova drops its nuts. Lean it out slightly and hold on for the ride.

it feels excellent !!! definitely better then any other fuel gun I have seen yet..... the trigger/plunger seals very well and has a strong spring behind it, so the open/close is very positive.... the fit and finish is very good, its definitely built with a higher standard then the others we have...

Well I am thinking about getting a new Nova soon my BTTA has about 6 gallons on it but still runs great I just want to have something new to play with that has a little more power. Anyway whats a better choice for someone who has ran several 4 port Novas but looking for more power and top? P5 or Bonito or other? Also I have had more during race flameouts with my BTT (5) than I did with my Nitrotec (2) both at 6 gallons but probably to fat on LSN with BTT. Any advice on new motor? Thanks!

I am putting it in my Losi 8b 2.0 and I really like Novarossi and have done well with them but just want to try something different than 3 or 4 port motor. I know this Nova thread but what about new Orion 5p TE (Dakota Phend)any feedback on it yet? My friend just got a modded P5 with 17011 put in front but I am waiting until he breaks it in and lets me run it on track and if I like it will more than likely get a P5 but need some prices on the motor with mod and 17011 bearing put in front from a couple motor guys before I decide. My buddies P5 was like $350 from Clockwork. Thanks for any feedback/advice!
