Default roma

anyone got any feedback on the roma? what insert is working the best?
what runtimes are people getting and what pipe configuration are most running or is it to early to ask?
feedback on my roma is 9886/21 25% nitro 7mm insert with around 2 gallons /8ltrs on it #6 nova plug 14t bell ls needle just on flush hs needle just out from flush runtime about 8 mins temping about 250f making awesome power right thru comparing with a curret os speed the rpm sounds a little higher at the end of the straight I just changed to tko ceremics f/r all is working well
I might try the 6.5 insert to see any difference in RT and power not game to try the 5.4
cheers

I have a quick question. I just purchased a 21 4c. I am using houstons break in method (heat cycle method) and have just finish my three on the box heat cycles. I just did my first heat cycle 10 min run on the ground. I was having a hard time keeping the engine at 210. It would hover right around 230. 80 degrees ambient and humid. I tried to richen the low speed and lean the high. And vise versa. I cant keep it running if i try to run it richer. Loads up and dies. At 230 it is plenty rich. Tons of smoke and oil coming out the exhaust. I am just concerned that it is a little to hot. Am i being paranoid?

I'm running the Roma with 6.5 Venturi, 48/14 in losi truggy. Am about to try a 15t bell. Don't think it will work at our track. Should be quite quick top end I reckon. Using 2069/21 30% nitro x fuel. 245-255 f and getting around 7.50 rt. needles are pretty much the same. About 6 l through it now.

Im having a bit of trouble breaking in my plus 4t. I preheated the engine fired it up it ran less than a minute then killed the glow plug. I put in another plug and the same thing happened.

My needle settings were set by the sheet that came with the engine. 5 turns out on the LSN and 3.5 out on the HSN.

Way to lean on the HSN. Should be a little past flush for break in, approx 5 to 5.5 turns out from closed. Thank the nitro gods your plugs blew. Once broken in the 3.5 turns out from full closed sounds lean to me. Think its closer to 4 turns for factory settings.

I had a bit of dirt get in the front bearing after just 4 ltrs. Changed to 17011 and seems fine ATM. Did consider blocking vacuum return valve but decided that if it wasn't serving a purpose then novarossi probably wouldn't use it.

I have also used 1/10 tire foam around the head. works a treat to keep temps up

Thanks beidle. I richened up the HSN and put in a Werks 6 (only thing I had on hand) and things are going smoothly now.

no problems. Keep the temp between 190 and 210 for the first 8 or so tanks. The werks plug is fine to use. you could use a Od 97T for break in, but I don't trust them much past that. once I was broken in and on a race tune. switched back to Nova plugs. worth the extra $5 a plug. They make the engine run super smooth and will last a lot longer. DO NOT USE AN OS PLUG!
