Any one got some feed back on the Roma now they have been out for a while.... in standard form.... how do they preform....Aggressive...Smooth..good run times....

Standard vs. Turbo glow plug. I'm running the 21-4T with 2058 pipe in my buggy, like it a lot.

much the same as the toro nero and bonito with more grunt/excelleration not alot of difference in runtimes and power is smooth, I have the 9886/21 pipe setup and it feels awesome:) that is in the truggy:nod:

glow plugs
 
I've been having a issue in which I'm going through glow plugs pretty fast in my nova 4btt. I'm using the c6tgc plugs. Does this mean I'm running my engine to rich? The plugs seem to have caster oil on them....dark color but, the residue comes off if I wipe it. Any thoughts guys?


On a side note- I've seen people running the 4btt 3.5 turns out HSN and 4.5 turns out on LSN....In which I cant even come close to that on LSN...4.5 turns out it lean bogs insanely. Idle is set .6mm.

The classic "lean bog" is most always caused fromtoo lean hsn setting ;)

And you should NOT be going through c6tgc plugs , something definitely aint right there

How fast are you going through them?

Needle settings vary so much depending on the climate, altitude, fuel, and all that stuff.

I notice the biggest change from humidity, temp, and especially altitude.

I say if in doubt put the top end flush and the bottom flush and start with the bottom end first, then go back and tune sparingly on the top. Don't go by turns out, it's too vague on the needles, with the exception of the idle, you have that perfect for most circumstances. The bottom usually runs a little lean when it's right, just before it runs on in the turns.

It sounds like you have the top lean and the bottom fat, and the lean top is burning it up, but that's just a guess.

If you ever have a doubt put the top flush and leave it there until you have the bottom end right and the idle.

I pretty much have the same weather conditions as Texas. Hot and humid. I'm in wis. I'm using byrons 30%. Also using the 7mm restrictor. I've been doing pinch tests on my low end. In which the rpms go upand she dies in about 5-6 secs. Not sure how good of a method that is. Though, I'm gonna try fatting the top and going out 4.5 on lsn. Yeah not sure why I'm burning up plugs!?!?!? Idea's and advice is welcomed! :). Ps- engine has over 3gallons through it. It was bench broken in by Houston and I finshed the process off with 2000cc of fuel while keeping the engine 190 210. ( sorry for the text clutter posted on my phone)

So Houston or one of you other Nova gurus, how would expect this Volksmotor to be? They just came up for sale here - CHEAP. I mean, really cheap..

And for a pipe? I guess 9901.. Just ruined mine trying to clean it.. :(

5-6 seconds on the LSN is pretty good I think for the pinch test when up to operating temp. My HSN is just out from flush on my BTT. Keep your LSN where its at for now if your getting a consistant idle and tune the HSN. It doesn't take much on these carbs to get them out of the sweet spot. Go to flush with the HSN and go from there.

I am going throught the same thing. At 4.5 on the lsn, 3.5 on the HSN, it lean bogs bad on the bottom but on the track 3.5 is pretty rich on the top with not much RPM's. So I lean the top a few hours just to get it somewhat crisp, not completely race tuned and still a tad bit rich. So I am about 3.25 on the HSN. At 4.5 it will not run and lean bogs bad and gets over 300 pretty easy. I have to run mine at 5.25 turns out on he LSN to keep it from bogging. Brand new tank, line, all clutch parts, gaskets, etc..... It still runs 290 all the time, but I really could care less as there is smoke. Bearing tests pass with flying colors. I guess I will run it at those needle settings. It is nice and crisp and does not flame so I guess I will not worry about getting to 4.5 on the LSN. I am glad I am not the only one.........:eek:
