Which pipe/header/glow plugs to buy
Good day folks. I am thinking of purchasing my first Nova Rossi engine.
I am looking at the P5XLT to run in my Mugen Buggy, Serpent 811 Buggy and Mugen Truggy and want some input. Which Header/Pipe/glow plugs should I use in this engine. What can I do to get the highest fuel economy from this engine. General track conditions are a medium size track, several sharp turns so coming out of th hole is important. let me know what you think please. Thanks Dr. Evil |

Thanks Dr. Evil Pipe and header are: 2096 and 021 header (029 for the newer Mugens) Plugs: C5TGC and C6TGC. Fuel Ecco? Wouldn't worry too much. The XLT will get 10 minutes plus in stock form. At the track you'll be running it at, I'm pretty sure you won't have an issue. Get a 17011 front bearing for it and it's good. Now just pull the trigger and get that new mill. You'll be gald you did. |

You're always there.. Cool. Pulling the trigger is easy, except when there is a sharp turn/wall there in my way. LOL Talking about my driving.. Anyway. I'm working on it. Amain keeps changing the price. The price changed 4 times in the last 2 hours. Price was cheaper than the last place you told me then the price went above, then back below.. Crazy.. BTW - The Mugen MBX5T is dead... headed to the retirement shelf. I pulled the motor/transponder out Sunday Night and put them into the MBX6T. I'm trying to bring the MBX6T online. Need a few things. Hope to have it done in 3 weeks. As for the engine, so far the 5xlt looks great as you mentioned. Just looking for opinions. Ahh as a mod, should I get a silicone filled crank?? Thanks :ha::ha::ha: |

So I snuck away tonight and spent 2.5 hrs. with this motor.........100% no go. Just for the heck of it I set the needles to 3.5 HSN and 4.5 LSN and ran it. Really bad lean bog, and ran so-so on top once you got it rolling and got some fuel in it. So I tried to keep richening the top just to see how far I could go with it to get rid of the bog. So the HSN is 4.5 out now just to experiment and the low end is almost there and but it is too rich on top and will not stay running. If it is on the starter box and you blip the throttle it will barely bog, then settle into a nice idle for 2 seconds then the rpm will pick up and just shut off after 8 seconds at 4.5 and 3.5 on the needles...... Runs out of fuel, lean! Really erratic idle.
So I ended up at 5.25 on the LSN, and 3 on the HSN. Only way I could get any kind of snappiness and crispness out of it, running 280 to 300 at these settings, but it is really crisp will idle nice and smooth and run all day. I guess I am not going to worry what one of these motors "should" come close to running at and just run and race it there. I put the OS Speed in just to check with the same pipe, same everything and no problems at all. I just hate that I can get 8:30 to 9:00 minutes out of it at these settings. Tried all different pipes to no avail!!!!!!! Spray motor clean all on the front bearing while it is running and has "zero" effect on the idle. I am going to replace the front bearing in it just to be safe and run it where it runs best!!!!!!!! |
the 2084 and 9901 run great on the p5xlt as well. same deal, 41021 short or 41029 short(tight bent) header with these pipes

Hi. Not trying to sound like a pill here and I am not trying to ask for
trade secrets either. Just want to know what you get when something is "Houston Tuned" Are we talking smoother idle, smoother (less like a light swtich) throttle More fuel economy, Smoother bottom end, Higher revs (etc, etc, etc)??? What does one get. Again, I don't want to know how it's done or any company secrets, just want to know what to expect for the price. Thanks |
