There could be. Everything being set up as equal and perfect as possible, you should be able to get about a minutes extra of run time with a .21 over a .25.
That being said, how often do we ever get "perfect" anything....

For the average joe racer, maybe about 20-30 seconds. Is this a lot.... Could be as much as a lap at the track. Also could be the difference of a 3 stop race and a 4 stop race . it you are running a 30 minute main and can make 7 minutes with a .25 and 8 with a .21, you can make it in 3 stops with the .21. Now this is just a ball park.

Engines today are so over powered as it is, I prefer to be able to control it. Races are won on the track. But they can be lost in the pits.....

Ggthedouble 12-09-2014 11:38 AM

Wouldn't the extra power and torque that you have compensate for that though? Let's say I do have to make 4 stops with a .25 is that really a big deal if I'm running 4-5 seconds faster than the guy with .21. Because then Id be able to make up the time I just wasted in the pits within one lap.

kgombe 12-09-2014 11:45 AM

more power does not translate to faster, it often translate to being slower..

So all of you think that a .21 would be the better choice then huh? I'm thinking about it a lot and I'm thinking that the .21 is the better choice more and more. How do I get it modded and broken In if that's even possible.

I would go with the .21. The .25 and .28 just don't provide a big enough advantage over the .21's.

For modding services, and this will open up a can of worms, RC Renew and Clock Work Racing Engines. They both will do just about any and all motors out there, can be made to fit your specific needs and provide some of the best customer support in the business. As well as break in services and rebuilds when its time.

or

Houston Engine Services is another good one I hear, but have not used them..... yet.

if you are this new to nitro get a stock motor and enjoy racing it first..

I got 2 novas, keep off 21-4 and 21-7xl.
I usually have a buddy of mine break my engines in for me. He's a little busy right now so I was wondering if you guys have info or YouTube or a link to get me going in the right direction on how to properly break in these engines myself. Thanks a mill

Is there a Virtus 4 port? seen 9 and 7 i think but a 4?

occidio 12-13-2014 02:23 AM

what is the difference between the old PLUS4 and the new BTT .. run time and stability is very important, i suck tuning engines, so i dislike engines which are difficult to deal with . Has cost me too many A-main finals this year because of free but poor engines.

Is the Bonito the fastest Stock .21 Nova produce for off-road? Had a drive of a Team Associated SC8 with a Bonito yesterday and now i want one. Lol!

Guys what would you recommend on a Novarossi P5XLT plug? the place that I raced is tropical weather which is 80-90's & hopefully can make it to the Philippines Big Event next year anyway ... this is gnna be my first time to try the Novarossi Motor which I heard a lot of good things ,I got the motor from the other site which is 3/4 gal. and last thing about the shim? too which I have no idea how many shim do I need ,i will be using the 20% for now ..until the 30% fuel gets here ,please any input /suggestion , thank you..

VinnieWee 12-14-2014 02:49 AM

Hey guys, I was hoping someone could help me. I would like detailed pictures of a novarossi engine that has the rubber seal on the head button. I would like pictures of both the head button and the engine case where the head button is placed.

In short i want to see the thread on both the head button and engine case where the rubber seal is fitted.

would really appreciate if someone could help me out with that :)

22Racer 12-14-2014 07:16 AM

I hope this is what your looking for.

If you are running 20% in high humidity/high heat tropical weather i would highly recommend lowering head shimming by removing only the copper .20mm head shim (normally that would be alot but 20% ,high heat ,high humidity)

Hope fully your engine is in great shape

Jerm13 12-14-2014 11:37 AM

Quick question. I got a P5 and want to put a LCG head on it. Are the BTT and Keep Off heads the same bolt patterns? Its going to get bead blasted so it doesn't matter what it says. Mainly, I want it to sit lower so its under the roof line on the body.

If anyone has a used one that is still straight, let me know. Don't care about scratches, just straight fins...

kgombe 12-14-2014 12:24 PM

yes it is jerm13.. I had one done

rage1945 12-14-2014 01:40 PM

I was wondering the same thing?? I have 2 p5 xlt's with bent fins and would like to know if keep-offs, btt WC edition heads fit and if their are other any other Nova heads that fit, preferably upward finned heads, as well?? Thanks

The block needs to be machined for the lower head.

They are both full cnc billet pistons ,one is the enlarged exhaust surface area (11) and the other is the older (10 which is more preferred imho)one

bluexile67 12-22-2014 02:59 AM

may i ask which head shims to add or retract for running the novarossi (stock engine)

with an 8 or 9mm venturri

with werkz blend 30 % nitro

c6tgc plug

stock shims are 2 x .30 and 1 x .20 = .80 total

houston 12-22-2014 05:31 AM

Leave shimming , if you want to change anything ,get some .10mm and replace the .20mm with .10 for .70mm

Has anybody run the VIR-TUS in a truck? What pipe combos have you tried? Any report would be great. Thanks

ready rollers 12-28-2014 06:54 AM

I maybe late but I was wondering what are some reviews on the novarossi complete buggy clutch? Also do they make the novarossi clutch bells in 15-17 clutch bells?

ready rollers 12-28-2014 07:01 AM

Also is this fit more for the buggies as it says or can it be used in a truggy?

I have yet to run my Virtus engine in my Truggy...that said, I have raced with others who have raced the engine in a truggy during the 2014 season. The baseline pipe combo most team drivers use is the 9901ss/41021. This is where I plan to start when the spring racing season begins here in the NE.

I've been looking for a video or article that can help me understand my new Nova 3 needle carb. Most say leave it alone and that's it, but I need to understand when and how I should use it. I've been running nitro for a long time .... I am a competent tuner. Just new to the three needle. Anyone have some good material/ media they can share?

First off, do you know what it does. If not here you go.

It adjusts the where low end of the tuning ends and the high end takes over. You can use this adjustment to move where that point is, either earlier or later in the RPM.

95% of people will adjust it because something else is off, whether its the high or low end, and it will move the tune of the engine higher or lower and usually further out of tune. Then they end up chasing it until they readjust it and start over.

There are a couple videos on YouTube about it if you are still interested...
My suggestion.... put some sealant over it and forget about it.

Those have been around a long time, I'm thinking there were originally used for on road racers, when ppl started usin them on off road, they were getting them so out of tune, NR and other engine companies were better off using the 2 needle carbs, rather hearing complaints from all the customers that would mess them up so bad, then bitch at the companies for bad carbs.

Hoese37 12-31-2014 07:37 PM

So who has a good explanation of the Nova pipes?
