Yes start flush. I usually end up around a half turn in from flush on top and around a half turn out from flush on bottom. Once you set your idle gap, you shouldn't have to touch it anymore, keep that in mind also.

I know this question might be kinda rookyish...but when your looking in the new B5 carb to set the idle gap,how many turns do you have to put on the idle screw before you notice the gap to change. It seems like I was turning it quite a bit with no change. I'm trying to get the 1.5mm air gap. Just dont want to stip out anything, probably over thinking it but sometimes we tend to do that with these dang cars...Thanks guys

When I checked the idle gap last it was poor light at the track. I checked it in the garage under propper light and I can see the gap moving....

Well you guys I finally tried the 2035 pipe today, It was the only pipe left I wanted to try on the B5. It works very good. I would have to say still the 2013 is best, but this pipe does work good. It doesnt quite have the power the 2013 has on the bottom but Pretty close. I still prefer the 2013 also becasue the 2035 is so long!! like 1/2 inch longer. The idle was a little more consistant with the 2013 .BUt I think it now rates in the top 3 pipes for the B5 so with my testing in MY opinion the 2013, 2057 and 2035 are the best pipes for this engine in that order. I also checked fuel mileage today and I got just over 10 minutes per tank in my d8 buggy with the 2013 and also with the 2035. So both are the same or pretty close mileage wise........anyway I am done with testing pipes now!!! WHEW!!.......lol

i did some testing on the B5 with DYN 053mr, 99T plug and Werks fuel Temps 52Deg here in NJ. i got 10min 7sec and 10min 20sec with good power top , bottom. without touching needles but on thunder 2035 pipe. engine had no power had to lean top to get the same power as the 053, plus was not getting the same run time.

The new WERKS 2013 is thicker aluminum and has a reinforce stinger, Check 'em out at amainhobbies.com

Jmoney today I started dout with the 2013 at Revelation raceway, I was getting 45-47 second lap times and got over 10 minutes per tank, I repeated this for another full tank, and again got over 10 minutes pertank. Ran killer as as usual. Then immediatly after I swithched to the 2035, ran a couple laps to tune, filled it up and and started timing, I got 45-47 sec lap times again, and Just over 10 minutes per tank. Then ran it another tank and got the same results. It had plenty of power it was just not as much as the 2013 on the bottom. But top was good and overall it was great. This was in my buggy.

Are you sure your tune was perfect on the 2035? MY experience was completly different than yours , so just trying to figure out why you got no power and terrible mileage?

Oh, I run WERKS 30% and WERKS #5 plugs

Also on pipes that get better mileage you will have to lean the needles . And When you switch pipes the tune is going to be off and will have to re-tune totally.

Hey Steve, Rick. Just got done doing some tuning on mine, maybe this will help. Idle gap with resrictor in is about 1/2 to 3/4s mil. HS I turned it in 1/2 turn from flush and another 3 hrs in. LS 1/2 turn out from flush but ended up turnig back in 3 hrs to get a better Idle.
Let mre know if this helps. Ill be at the track tomarrow for some well needed practice, like you didnt already know LOL. Oh yea I also have 2013 coming.

Mine will not perform until the HS needle is almost 2 full turns in from flush. LS needle is maybe 2 hrs in from flush to get the idle correct, my air gap is set at approx 1mm. I am running an oddonel 97 plug and a Werks 2013 pipe. This is the new style carb. I started from flush on top and bottom at 12 tanks to re-tune.Its just seems to be a lot in from flush on top, cause I guess I'm used to the B7, Where as it just needs the HS needle a few hrs in from flush to perform. Whatever it takes to make The B5 run I guess.
