Yea my buddy plack75 got that pipe fig i would try this he try that meet in the middle, This motor out the hairpin has the intimidation sound/rip to make them lift lol. i was kinda wanting to experiment with anyway....

I'll try his out and see the diff. I got the reedy motor for boring slow is fast runtime.. blah blah..

With this lump i am gonna light people up coming out of hairpins....

I use .5mm as a reference because it is easy to explain, roughly half the thickness of a credit card. Again though the exact amount is not critical, what is critical is that there is a sufficient gap to allow air to flow. So I guess instead of giving a fixed measurement if it is less confusing I could instead say "using your idle stop screw set the air gap by looking down the throat of the carburetor and adjusting the slide so that you have a visible opening to the slide".

Hope this clarifies thing, again in a nutshell the important thing is not that there is an exact amount that the air gap is set to. The important thing is that ther is an air gap! So for my tuning method just make sure that there is a gap, set it, after that leave it alone and tune using your needles. Hope this clarifies things a bit!

Ron

Already did -- replaced header to pipe gasket just in case, but neither was bad. One was 'old', that was about it.

Default runtime report

Just put on a werks pipe I believe to be a 2013 (lol it's scratched all to heck, ebay special, I can make out werks but not the #, seller said it was a 2013). I did some timed practice yesterday to get an idea of runtimes.

1st session - 11:09
2nd session - 10:58

Running in a losi 2.0t, very loose track (ungroomed practice, dusty), ~75-80 degrees.

Power is also improved.

My problem is that based on your tuning method.. I would have thought the bottom was too lean because of how high the normal idle sounded. How much of an air gap should I be starting with?
Sounds like an air leak somewhere

Ya it didn't look right to me so I'm going to pull it out before I fire it up. Glad I asked!

Did you need to put a a smaller diameter shim? or was it good without one?

thanks,

Okay I just tried and the 0.5 shim is required or the Mugen flywheel rubs the motor housing. I found a smaller diameter one though so I'm good to go!. I'm just dying to finish getting this truggy together so I can start the breakin.

Man this little motor is prety awesome, finall recieved it, put it in my mbx6 and broke it in, all the power you can want on the bottom, though i was using a 13t clutch bell since thats all i had, was super jerky though. Really had alot of trouble controlling it on the track since it was so dry and dusty, though from what ive seen so far, i think this'll be the motor i buy for my truggy as well when my current one get a bit more fuel on it.

Cool, I'm pretty confident that it should give you all of the power that you need for it ;-)
