The New Werks B5 .21 Racing Engine
#1276
So when was the carb changed? I've had mine NIB for about 6 weeks and it has the old carb. Am I going to have problems with it now? I always seal up my engine good. Was that the only problem with the old carb or will I be chasing the tune all day?

Ya, there is nothing wrong with old carb at all. That style has been out for years and has been great and has been used on many engines with great success. As with all things Ron found a way to make a bettter one so he did. But there is absolutly nothing wrong with the old carb, the change was done not becasue there were ANY isssuse's with the old carb. But because they made a couple new changes and it worked great. Most of us on here have the old carb version and have no issues at all. I guess some more of us need to but another one to check out the new carb
Well, its a good enough excuse for me!
Im gonna have to order another one!

Hoenestly that's becuse our site has not been updated in a while lol! Frankly it's old and archaic and I'm starting to work on a completely fresh site instead of trying to keep making that thing work! Unfortunately there is so much going on right now that time is a little short though. You should be able to find specs and everything on the a-main product page, were you looking for any specific info that I can give you?

Ron

Well I have the thread out Reedy 121vr or Jammin jpx for my next engine and now I am considering your's big time. A big thing for me is parts availability, customer service which seems spot on.{ example} will I be able to replace piston-sleeve-con rod? The engine speeks for itself I think ,cool temp, reliable, smooth consisant idle, longevity, power what more can you expect from an engine! PS. I think it's great your on here supporting your engine and customers.

heidmann1, It was fun. Gas tank lid got stuck open in the main so I had to get re fired. I think I might bump up a class. I'll be mid pack but that's okay
. It was a pretty low turn out. Just need to get that x2 planted better and roll through the bumps better.
No engine issues though. I can pull people in down that straight. There's power any time I need it. Fuel is good too. Everything is nice and coated.

Quick update ... 7 tanks into the break-in and now have the idle set around 1mm. I finally removed the head wrap to let the engine reach temps with semi-rich settings. I understand the needles are different for everyone, but I wanted to share where I'm at right now:
Carb: 2010 version
Ambient temp: 70F
Humidity: 90% (yes, really)
Operating temp: 200F
Plug: OD 77T (still have some from the last engine)
Pipe: GO 2072 (Werks 2013 on the way)
Fuel: Byron's Pro Race 30% / 11% oil
HSN: 24 hours in
LSN: 12 hours out
This is still running rich, but makes for a glorious sounding idle
Takes off well from a 30s idle.
