Hello Dave, thank you for the kind words. Realistically I should be the one thanking you and all of our team guys though for choosing to run for us. There are a lot of choices out there, now more than ever and to have so many of your choosing to run our products and representing our stuff and seeing all of you do so well with it really brings me a lot of pride! So again thank you, and thank you to all of our team guys and customers that have helped make 2010 become an excellent year for us!

Did Jpalassi ever get the break in video done and up on Youtube?

From what i know... Its Mo that said he's going to do the break in video. Also i think Jpalassi Runs the Js motors.

lol ya Joe is the EB Mods, team manager so he def. would not be doing a video for werks :) seems like Mo has dropped the the earth lately

Hey Ron,

Our local track is a small technical track that requires a lot of on/off throttle response. And, since I am not independently wealthy, I run on the rich side of the tuning window. Plus, the B5 is in a Jammin X2 CRT, I am pushing a little more weight around than "other" Truggies.

I have not had the opportunity to try a 2013 yet ... again, not independently wealthy. Marcus has offered to let me try one of his 2013's but I have not had a chance to make that happen.

Ah, ok. A couple of things though, if you are running on a small, technical track limit throttle opening with your end point adjustment and you also might want to try something like a 6mm reducer. Either of these might result in your picking up 20+ seconds on a smaller track.

Regards,

Ron

Yep, I could limit the throttle opening but, most of my racing is against Brushless Truggies so, I need all the throttle I can get

The 6mm restrictor might be an option. What restrictors are compatiable?

Limiting throttle opening is only going to affect top end and running on a small track I highly doubt that you are maxing the engine out on RPM. Regarding the reducers I've only used ours so I have no idea what else might work. I think that they are only around $9 or so, so this is not an expensive thing to try out though.

Ron you have PM if you havent seen it already.

Ok I'm not sure which thread to post this in so I'll just ask here. I got a Werks B5 for my daughters Truggy, (8T 2.0). I have been real happy with it. I haven't really had to tune on it much for it has pretty much kept it's tune. I' am looking at getting another Werks motor and not sure which one I should get, the B5 or B6. I'm looking at putting this in her buggy but not real sure if that's where it is going.
I have heard that the B6 gets better run time but the B5 gets better power. I have really heard all kinds on both but wanted to ask on here.

Also when does the B5 start to loose compression? I think hers is starting to and was wondering what to expect. Thanks.

Oh and I seen above where the restrictors are being talked about. Where can I get other ones at for the Werks motors? I was told that I might want to put a smaller one on her cars to limit her some and to give her better control.

Thanks for any help and for the long post. I'm sure I will be asking other question also.

I'll try to answer your questions. As far as the B5 versus B6 question if she is running buggy I definately would advise you to go with the B6. First the power delivery is a lot smoother which is going to make it quite a bit easier for her to modulate the throttle which will make it easier for her to apply throttle withou upsetting the chassis (sonthe carnwill be less prone to stepping out or possibly spinning). Secondly in buggy you will see over a minute more run time (probably closer to 2).

Regarding the restrictors these can be purchased on-line from a-main. Just click on engine parts then click on B5 or B6 parts. Te restrictors listed under both will work with either engine as the both use the same carb.

Finally you asked when does the B5 start loosing compression. The honest answer to that is engines start loosing compression each time they are run lol. Ultimately they will have so little compression left that they will not run properly. When this happens (the p/s is worn out) you will see it by not being able to set a smooth, steady, consistent idle. This is because that is basicaly the lowest possible rpm that the engine will run at and if there is blow by it will be most noticeable at low rpm. About when will this happen? Honestly it carries and is affected by tune (how lean the engine has been run), fuel (specificaly the quality of the lubricants in it), air filtration (how much dirt the engine ingested over it's life) and rpm (over reving from i.e. Runaways are really bad for the engine life). On a properly maintained engine even ones run under hard racing conditions like with Kortz we normaly see 6-9 gallons on a p/s before they need to be replaced or as a lot you guys choose to do, pinched. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Ron

Runtime depends on a lot of factors, excessive wheelspin being one of them. The B6 is smoother, so in theory less wheel spin and better fuel mileage in a buggy.

How does the engine idle? That's really the best indicator of an engine on the way out. If it doesn't hold an idle, it's probably done. Also if an engine runs fine until it gets warm, then it's probably done also. Finally if you take the engine apart and can push the piston past the normal wear marks in the sleeve, she's done too.

Amain

Have you looked into the Werks Pro clutch? It can be a great aid in gaining control, especially w/ the heavy flywheel. A buddy used the heavy on his Losi 2.0 Truggy w/ a B5 and it really tamed the bottom end making it easier to drive and it doesn't really affect the top end so you can still fly when your pulling full trigger down the straight. My understanding is that a restrictor is only really going to affect the overall top end (and fuel mileage) and probably isn't where your daughter needs the help. Most people get in trouble w/ a super snappy bottom end and overcorrecting on steering when the rear end gets loose.

Thanks for any help and for the long post. I'm sure I will be asking other question also.

Hope this helps.

Ron I guess we were typing at the same time, LOL! I defer to Mr. Werks' response.....:D
