Werks has plugs?

Yes we do lol! Just have not pushed them much in the past. We make standard, turbo and special buggy turbo plugs. I just sent some of our #5 Buggy Turbo plugs to A-main yesterday so they should be up on there site in a couple of days!

Well, Ron, i had my first outing with my B5 yesterday at SRS in scottsdale, az. I am SUPER impressed. I've got a little more than a quart through the engine and it's great. it never even thought about flaming out on the track. i followed break in instructions as per this thread and used an o'donnel 97t with torco 30%. it first fired up immediately on the box and the carb was really easy to tune. by the time the racing started, i had a good baseline, and by the b- main (yeah, i'm rarely in the a-main) it had almost as much poop going down the straight as anybody else, including the nova +4's and the electric guys.... ok, the flashlights were the fastest, but let's get back to the b5.

even in the 103+ degree mid day heat while breaking in it never even got above 200. by the time i did my last run it came off at 205, rock solid.:nod: i'm using an AXE rossi 2050 pipe, and i'll be going to the 2013 as soon as i freeze it and pull the dents out.

now about the low end...

Lots of low end, even at idle. I had punch all over the place, and this was a small track. more than my old b3 had, and we're not even broken in yet. lots of torque even at idle! for those of you who stop the flywheel with a finger or something to shut off your engine, you'll want to use something else and NOT your finger!!!!!! i got a flywheel burn on one thumb, one finger, and on the opposite first finger, it almost ripped my fingernail off! no shit! i found that for this method, gloves, a rag, or even a stray piece of fuel line that was lying on the table would get the job done.

not even broke in yet!!!!! i can't wait to get a gallon and a half through this thing. should be just in time for state champs and the nitro pit winter series:sneaky:

BigNasty, thanks for the feedback n glad that your break in went well! I think most people will find that this is a really easy engine to break in and tune, we've spent a lot of time trying to get this one right lol. If you could please give me some info about the pipe that you are running, is the Axe Rossi 2050 the same as the OS version with the same number? If not is it a bottom, mid or top end pipe? Also while I know that you were running rich at only 200 degrees and the motor is not fully broken in but what type of run time were you seeing on the motor and how does that compare to your previous motor or that of other drivers at that track?

Regards,

Ron Hopkins

Hey Keenan, you know I'm pretty stoked to get back down there again so maybe in January or February before it gets too darn hot lol! I'm waiting to find out what the firm dates are on the Worlds warm up in Thailand (have heard possibly November) and the actual Worlds event to start making travel arrangements. As soon as I find out what is going on with this, I'll start booking :D Take care and have fun down there!

The pipe is a axe/rossi 2050... it's what they sell for their 5 port mills and it looks just like an os 2050, but since i haven't cut them both open to see the innards of each of them, we can't say it's the same, but i imagine they are, as the 2050 is the EFRA number. as for run times, i'm running a ROAR regulation tank and fuel line on a 8ight, and the qualifiers were 5 minutes. BEFORE leaning it out, i warmed up, topped off before we lined up for a heads up start, did 5 minutes on the track and had at LEAST half a tank left:nod: For the main, which was only 5 minutes, i leaned it out 2 hrs & i didn't even top off before the bell went off. Still plenty of fuel left after warm up and 5 minutes of battle. On this track with my b7 i never pushed past 6.5 or 7 minutes .... so much better than the b7, in my opinion. thanks ron, this thing ROCKS!

also, the header is the round header, med length that comes with the pipe set.

I looked through the thread, but I could not find any info on when the engine will be available again. Do you guys have any Idea? I figure it has been posted, but I must have missed it.

I'm trying to get my hands on a new B5 and a 2013.

Thanks,

Ron said Italy is back to work. So I am sure that won't be too long.

Had another great weekend with the B5!!! Tried the jp4 pipe and got awesome fuel mileage. After a 6min qual. i still had half a tank. I still pit twice in a 20min A main but just because i had that much of a lead thought i would play it safe. So no doubt i could go 10 min easy. Temps were around 250-260 Ended up winning by a full lap:nod: No flame outs or any glitches of any kind today man i love this motor lol.

yeah for DC to go more than 5 minutes on a tank is pretty impressive:lol::lol:

My motor was flat out awesome this weekend!!!! ran perfect held tune all weekend runtime couldnt be better, just flat out awesome!!!!
tryed the 2013 and might have to give it more time but went back to the bigboy, the 2013 just had to much bottom end for my driving style, and I run 3 carbons with 1.0 springs.

THANKS RON FOR A GREAT ENGINE.HAD A B7 PRO BEFORE AND LIKED THAT ALOT TO.THE MORE FUEL I PUT THROUGH THE B5 I THINK I LIKE IT BETTER THAN THE B7.I HAVE THE 2056 OR FAT BOY PIPE ON IT AND RUN TIME IS GREAT.LAST 30 MIN A MAIN I ONLY PIT TWICE.CAME IN WHEN I HEARD HIM ANOUNCE 10 MARK AND AGAIN AT 20 MIN.AT END OF RACE WAS A FULL 2 LAPS AHEAD.A FRIEND JUST PAID ALOT MORE FOR A NINJA AND I LIKE THE B5 MUCH MORE.I DO HAVE A 2013 AND A 2057 PIPES LAYING AROUND,IF SOMEONE HAS TRIED THESE PIPES WOULD REALLY LIKE RUNTIME FEEDBACK THANKS.
