Hey Mr. Houston! Been a long time since I last talked to ya. Maybe gettin back into racing after a 3 yr hiatus n I just want to know what are the motors to have these days for buggy. More than likely gettin an MBX7r so whatever you recommend I'm listening. Think the last motor I got of ya was the btts. Look forward to hearing from ya!

What size screw is used to hold the carb on? The pinch bolt barrel is still in the engine but the screw that tighten it is missing. Any Ideas?

Hey Monty,

Sent you a couple PMs regarding theTillsonburg race/engine

invrtd 02-03-2015 09:33 AM

I am posting this question hoping someone smarter than me can clarify. I am wanting to run a 5+2 motor in my GT since they are buggy based motors and I have one on the shelf. However, the club I run GT at from time to time is now going to enforce the ROAR 5 port reg. I thought a 5+2 is a 5 port and the MES don't count against the porting number. Our race director says no 5 +2. He calls those 7 ports. Can someone educate me so I can talk smartly with our race director.

kgombe 02-03-2015 01:10 PM

i don't think the MES is the +2 in a 5 + 2 engine.. there are 2 bypass ports that are the plus 2

(i may be wrong though)

houston 02-03-2015 08:10 PM

Technically the +2 in the porting are not intake ports so technically they should not count , they are like depressurisation turbulence inductors that match with holes in the piston .

If i was the director i would outlaw the MES ,thats much more beneficial in the rpm dept

Sorry i cant clarify for certain as i do not run the GT class all the time ,i do race at time zone every so often with other peoples cars ,lol. Love it

invrtd 02-04-2015 05:41 AM

So, in your opinion is it worth fighting for the +2 or just go with a standard 5 port. I am just crying because I have been using roma in my GT and loved it. But, since GT is growing I don't mind following the rules.

kgombe 02-04-2015 07:54 AM

Roma is a 7 Port not a 5 + 2, if you are getting a new engine just go for the 5 Port and avoid the grief..

if you have one on the shelf its worth the argument.. but chances are you will get turned down... to keep things simple just get a 5 Port
