Monty can you try to get me another 2096 coated combo. He never replies back. Also want another truggy header. Gonna see if it livens up Binhs bonitto. The last two engines you did for me are sick. The x5r is running down the speeds like no other and that damn x7 is a rocket. Almost like a red dot nova lol. Also shoot me a link to next years races. Binh wants to go to one

Quick question about engine tuning and the carb:
Is the carb the only thing that affects how an engine tunes or are there other factors that affect how an engine tunes? For example. If I put a werks carb on a p5, would the process of tuning it be very similar to tuning a werks b6 with a werks carb on it? If I wanted all engines to tune like a novarossi would all I have to do is put a novarossi carb on the select engine to make it tune like a novarossi? |

Fuel is metered by the carb, and metered to control the ratio of fuel to air. |

Aren't the Werks carbs also short needle lsn?
If you're thinking of swapping them because you find a short needle easier to tune, I'd suggest just sticking with the nova carb. Long needle carbs like the novas can be tricky to tune, but it's almost always from a lean hsn and rich lsn and too much idle gap. |
Thanks everyone for the responses. I'm not going to put a werks carb on a nova or vice versa. I was just using that as an example. I plan to put a spare werks carb I have on my LRP 28. So will the LRP tune like a werks with the new carb?
|
LRP is an SH base engine, I don't think a Werks carb would fit. You should try a Losi 454 or a Dynamite carb. On the other hand you can put a Z.30 or Z.32 carb which is better but still has no insulation. The ZZ.21 has a wonderful carb but is expensive, same price tag as the LRP .28 whole engine .

Picco or Reds carb will work nicely in a LRP 28 ! Or a slightly lathed down Nova carb |

What is happening in this video?
Is the guy really taking a new engine and breaking it in like this? Thanks |

I can't watch the video, but is that the method where they make it super rich, and then run it wide open?
See ya rod... |

See ya rod... I'm not sure what method they used, but they leaned the engine out and were revving it on the box. |
