Monty, the x5race has the 15006 crank right?

Would either of the 15007t, 15009t, or 15010 cranks drop right in? I was thinking of possibly giving it a try, but would there be a huge difference in power? and if so mostly on the top end? Low end? I run it in truggy so top end I don't really care about but a little extra grunt wouldn't hurt.

I ran a X3FM last weekend around the track and it felt very nice, it was still very rich (following instructions) nice and controllable, great power band, strong steady idle, and even with its rich settings it still kept up with anything it got next to down the straight. The track was loose and like the surface of the moon (as per Steve) but my buggy ran without issue. Nice mill Monty
I can't wait to open it up and unlock the potential.

X5 race in truck? Hmmmm

Yes any of those cranks will work but timings will be quite dfrnt and really change the engine characteristics

What pipe r u using ?

I've been running 9853/41001, but I also have a 2096/41021 or 41005

Monty,

Any idea how the 15005 crank compares to the 15009T?

Not sure , i found info on the 15005 crank but no experience with it

Intake timings on the cranks make huge dfrncs , some other frills ,not so much

I noticed it comes in the legend 4 so it should be pretty similar to 15007,15009,15010 or the T version of any

The jp engine days was before i really started to pay attention to part#s ,lol

Im guessing its similar timings to 15007,15009,15010 but silicone filled

Monty I bet the X5R I got from you in July would work great in a truck :nod::nod:

Frank, glad to hear you like your x3LFM I know when I got mine I loved it from the start and haven't bought any other brand of engine since :tire::tire:

So I picked up a 15007t off ebay... for 50 bucks I figured why not :D

I think maybe I'll just toss the x5 as is into whichever buggy I end up building this winter. I've got the truggy bases covered and the x5 race seems perfect for a buggy as it sits.

So that leaves me with 15009 vs 15007t... how big of a difference would it make if I put it in my p5xlt? With the timing differences would it be more like an Elite 5 maybe?

both those cranks are very close to same intake timings , 15009 is cast and not finished on the intake opening , 15007t is precision ground on the intake timings

i personally feel there is too much overall in the p5 block and 15007t crank causing some odd tuning characteristics and lack of bottom and top if not tuned to compensate for the way the fuel is fed

anyway , happy motorin
