Negative. 8mm. I forgot that also. I wish I had an Exergen temp gun for a good comparison. Unfortunately I have the cheapo losi tuning driver. I only bought that cause friends kept saying I should own a temp gun. So I bought this one last summer when they came out.

Well, it might suck but I'll see if one of my friends will suffer through videoing my truck on our track. I'll post it on my youtube site and i'll give the same info I gave here. but I'm serious. Tank after tank of 14-15 minutes runtime.

Not sure about truggy but I was told the buggy tank is legal (125cc) with the spacer removed as long as you don't run an external filter or extra line. I haven't checked it myself.

I read the same thing last year with the 1.0. However when Carlton with RC Pro Series checked my tank it came out to 4cc over with the insert removed in the buggy. So I put the insert back in and the next check came in slightly under the 125cc. I have never used external filters and the fuel feed line isn't any longer than normal. Carlton always says at the drivers meetings that having the insert inside the tanks will never put the Losi vehicles over the limit. IDK. I use the insert for both 1.0 8-T and 2.0 buggy.

I'll show in a video tomorrow that the truck has the inserts in place. And try to take one continuous vid of the whole thing. Insert in place, motor already warmed up, give a short commentary what I'm videoing for, and run the truck till 15 minutes or the tank goes dry.

When doing the water drop test you want to put the water next to the glow plug not the head fins. I can usually come pretty close to the temp just by putting my hand on the head. If it is running between 260-280 it will burn the hell out of your hand. If it is running between 190-230 it will be very hot, but not burn cream hot. Getting 15 minutes of runtime I would take a venture and say that your temp gun is pretty close. Give it a try and let us know how bad the burn is!

Hey Monty,

I've got an n21bf limited with a little over a gallon on it. With the plug out and the engine cold I can turn it over by hand without too much difficulty...just a little mechanical pinch at TDC.

I haven't really noticed a drop in temp yet, would you guess that it's broken in (i.e. "dropped it's nuts")?

Thanks

should be pretty close if it hasn't yet

run it to about 250* , the 3 ports need a little heat to make em fast ;)

I was unsuccessful today. Sorry. But I'll be trying again tomorrow afternoon after work and replacing the throttle servo.

Got to the track about 8:30 this morning and drove around the track tweaking the engine for the day and was ready to go. So I went to watch my daughter's ball game for an hour and a half and came back.

1st attempt--wasn't performing the best but flamed out when I wrecked on the back straight. 9 minutes run time and 3/8 of a tank left.

2nd attempt--After the previous flame out I did a little adjusting. so back on the track and about 7 minutes in the engine was leaning out off the jumps. So we stopped video and I went to get the engine adjusted on flat concrete parking lot.

3rd attemp--With the engine running near the same as I described a few days ago I was on a mission this time. Driving the truck very well cause the engine was exactly right and 3 minutes into the video the throttle servo gave up. Doh!

It was a good ACE 1015 servo and I've been using that particular one since November of '07 in this same truck. I'll put a new tonight at work or tomorrow once I'm off. I erased the previous two attempts from the memory card thinking I wouldn't have enough memory after the daughters ball game. I got a lot of great action shots of her. So at least that was good today. LOL. The ex-gf will be happy with the pics too.

Here's a couple pics of my setup. No external filters. Averge length fuel feed line and slightly longer pressure line than I ran last year(about 1"-1.5" longer.) And the fuel tank insert has never been removed since purchasing this truck. I hope I have better luck tomorrow--and drive better too. LOL. I hate watching myself in videos--I'm not FAST.
