t-mizzle keep everybody posted on how your bf is running ;)

roadracer43 05-20-2009 05:11 PM

how much fuel have you ran thru it ? Ive got 1 gallon on mine so far. Just bought some byrons 25% to run from here on out. I ran blue thunder sport 20% for the first gallon. After reading all the posts on this thread I decided to change over to Byrons. My engine is still way tight. Cant wait for it to open up some.

Just over a gallon on my P5xs I got from Monty. Broke it in according to his instructions and tuned it with his guidance. Really makes my Losi 8T 2.0 boogie around the track with the best of them. Did a timed fuel check on a tank today and it ran out just over 15 minutes on our medium sized track. Making Novarossi believers out of a lot of the gang at my track. Thanks for everything Monty!

blue thunder has quite a bit of gunk building components in the fuel , performs fairly well , just leaves alot of build up inside the engine . coats the sleeve and piston also . byrons is great for performance and engine longevity :nod:great choice ;)

Jeepers Jeff! Monty is right. Pull the trigger already. You saw me drive it. I bet it would only go about 9 minutes with me driving it. lol. See you Sunday.

marccaracer 05-21-2009 05:00 AM

I am trigger challenged I guess. My engine has dropped its' nuts, now I need to grow some bigger ones to keep up. Someone taught me that staying on my wheels is the fastest way around the track. I will "get after it" more on Sunday when the track is watered.

Thanks for the tuning help Erik and Monty. Really hooked on this Nitro stuff. With quality engines and equipment it makes it very enjoyable. I hate to see those guys constantly tuning in half turns. Knowlege goes a long way too.

Byrons question for you Monty.

Their race and Pro Driver blends. I've been running 25/9, I picked up a gallon of the 25/11 to go through on my new Plus4 before I run the 25/9 again. What's the advantage of the lower % lube if any? What are the cons of using a fuel with a lower lube % (Byron Gen2 specific)? Was I right stepping up to the 25/11 for run in?

the difference is almost negligible but 9% pro runs a touch cooler (again almost negligible) and higher rpm's . i do notice that the tuning is very very close between the two also , a touch more torque with the race 11% .

one question , why dont you run 30% nitro ?

yes you were right in running in with higher lube fuel

Having Looped do a body for me soon in the Frosty theme :D Then gonna get Fastlane do a starterbox and wing wrap for me to match the body.

I used to run 30%, I dropped to 25 because that's all I could get at my LHS one day. I didn't see any real difference in the 2. Maybe a touch more power, but I need to learn to use what I have before I go after anymore :D

I took a 14 year break from RC racing. I've got 4 under my belt this season so far. 1 B-main win to bump and finished 7th in the A at a ROAR series race, 1 last place B finish (after some BAD marshalling, and some bad driving afterwards) and 2 days that ended early for me due to a burnt up steering servo and a broken rod :(

A bad day racing is better than a good day at work anytime :D I always have fun! Hell I was smiling when I popped that rod  disappointed but didn't let it ruin the rest of the day for me.

Houston/Monty
Since im swapping from blue thunder 20% to byrons 25% what should I expect as far as tune ? should I have to go leaner or richer ? Im just trying to learn about the different %s.
