Honestly , the plus 4 doesnt really need modifications for a buggy application , there can be some work done to increase power and even mileage but it is without a doubt a saweeeet ass buggy engine

X2....out of the box its gots tons off grunt. I used the old plus4c in my TRUGGY box stock with great results. Ive heard people say that it doesnt have enough bottom for a truck...not the case when paired with the right exhaust. Even with .9 springs I was down-siding jumps others couldn't. Plus 4 is one of my fav mills of all time.

The plus 4 is a very nice engine. Just got one about a month ago from Monty. Not sure if it needed any tuning as I got the Houston tunes, filled crank, and bench break in. All they guys that race around here have "tuned" versions from one guy or another, so I can't answer for the stock versions. But I am the only one with a Houston tuned that I know of.
I haven't raced mine yet but I am going out on the 22nd for the first time this year. But during the later parts of break in, my btt didn't disappoint. Very smooth on the bottom end, but enough to kick the ass end of the buggy around if needed. It does have a very "electric" feel to it. Gobs of mid range and top end too.

Hi monty just asking

This year i have goten back into racing arfter a long break of a few yaers i have decided to run a btta package i have two engines i like every acpect of them, but one thing they need a little more down low our track here in australia has some big jumps real close to tight corners and i dont seem to have that oomph of the corners.

Now i have done lots of testing with pipes etc and have come to a great package i have also run a os speed in my car and that engine gives the best blast from the corners to clear the doubles etc so its not the car or me and ive noticed that the other guys running the nova and fusion as well have the same issue

what im asking is can you mod this engine to give me some more down low power while keeping the smooth bottom end and reliability and 12-13 min run times at all

Psr , do this for me and let me know what you think after trying

find yourself novaossi part #03001 (.10mm head shims), shim down to .70mm total shim stack at first , if you are still feeling lack of power try going down to .60mm but do not go any lower , .65mm is probably the best balance imo , requires .15mm shims though

Try this before modifications
