Need a little help.
I've had an alpha .24 and now have a 2013 pipe. I've been running it on the oval and we run about 3 min races. I was pretty sure I had it tuned just right. I've been thru about 3 gal including break in. The problem came when i converted it back to buggy and ran my first off road last night with it. I made it thru 5 min heats no problem just a tad rich thru the night. All of the sudden about 8 minutes into the main it started stalling and just terribly rich. Pit guy leaned it a little and it got better for a lap but then back rich again. Leaned a little more and got better and finished the race but so down on power. Is this a common thing? I've never heard of anything Like that. I didn't get a chance to temp it after coming in so I don't know what its temping now. It was in the the 267 range before. |

Can anybody confirm that 3port piston sleeve fits 5 port jared tebo edition?
|
I talked to guy at the local hobby shop I bought the motor from and claims it is most likely just now breaking all the way in. He said on oval 3 gals probably hasn't been enough to do it but offroad was. This sound legit? Air filter is still clean.

The symptoms you describe sound just like an engine dropping it's nuts.. I'd retune it and run it..

On another note, the 7 port p/s is a BEAST  Cody has been running one in his truggy. and I'm going to build another one because it was so good. :) |

It won't fit. The diameter of the upper flange part of the sleeve is bigger than the 5 port sleeve. If you want to put a 3 port sleeve into your engine, it needs to be a 3 port from the start. I have no idea why they did that, don't kill the messenger.. :)

They should be 6.3mm. I ordered two TKO ceramics in 25.3x14.2x6.3 for my Discovery engines. I hope to install them Firday afternoon. I'll let ya know if they work.. Bearing sizes should be the same for all the Alpha line of Orion engines. |
