Really interested in the Discovery engines just because they seem to be a good value money wise. Run time with these pretty good? Looking at running it in a buggy. Just have heard really good things about Orion engines and have seen some run well at our track. Just have not seen a Discovery in person.

Thanks

Probley not my is tune to kill.On a med to large track 10 mins max would be afraid to go 10 mins in a race.Pit at 9.30 max at least for me:)

Any of the new Orion engines can go 10. It comes down to your car set-up, your tune, your finger, and your fuel. Anybody that would tell you otherwise is blowing smoke up your @$$... :D

It won't fit. The diameter of the upper flange part of the sleeve is bigger than the 5 port sleeve. If you want to put a 3 port sleeve into your engine, it needs to be a 3 port from the start. I have no idea why they did that, don't kill the messenger.. :)

On another note, the 7 port p/s is a BEAST  Cody has been running one in his truggy. and I'm going to build another one because it was so good. :)

Mr. King, are you saying that the 5port crf/abi piston sleeve set and the 7port crf/abi are interchangeable? I would like to try the 5 port ps in my 7 port motor.

yes, those should be interchangeable.. for some reason the flange on top of the 3 port is a little bigger and doesn't fit into a 5 port case.. not sure why :weird: :D

Discovery

Picked myself up a Discovery combo as a backup for 2012 as the price could not be beat. Pipe and header combo alone is $109, for a mear $110 more you get the engine! Impressive looking little mill. It came with the 2058 pipe and header, and a 7.5mm insert in the carb. Nice to see the re-inforced stinger. May pickup a 2013 as well, it's suppose to be a good bottom pipe and sound better. The carb looks a bit different than the nova carbs that are on my RB's, it'll be interesting how they tune and compare to those. Spring is a long way off here and I have lots of time to decide on what else to buy.:p

Do you have the combo in hand, or jsut going by hobby shop description? I ask because I order a Disco Combo which was supposed to have a 2058, but showed up with 2013.. I wasn't too dissappointed, because the 2013 rips..

BTW spring will be here before you know it.. I've got a truggy and buggy to rebuild, new servos, and 2 new engine to install and break-in before the first race, which hasn't been posted yet.. But I still have last years engines, ready to rock, so I can always do that if I need to..

Yes it arrived yesterday and it has the 2058. I was wondering as well what I was going to get for a pipe because I saw your earlier post. I'm wanting to get a 2013 as well to try with it as Pitpop mentioned its an awesome pipe for the Orion engines and has that motocross sound to it.

Check Stormer they have them but I think they are out of stock ATM. They sell out fast you need a quick trigger finger. ;)

IMO, and this is just opinion, and I haven't even tried it, but I think the 2058 would be a better pipe for a buggy, and 2013 for truggy. I have access to a 2058, but haven't asked to borrow it, though I know he would let me.. I fear I might like it too much. LOL Then I'd have to buy one for myself.

Like Skunk Said Stormer seems to ave the best deals, but they go out of stock with in a few days being in-stock. GS hobbies also carries them, with good prices..

Get the CRF engine.. Nicer motor, but can that 2057 pipe and pick up a 2013. Should be able to get one used pretty cheaply in the Forsale section fot his forum..

Worlds combo

Finally made a decision and pulled the trigger on a worlds combo. :sneaky: It's the best deal and makes the most sense for me since I have the Discovery allready as a backup/practice mill. The 3 extra carb inserts will be nice to have for both engines as well. I can't wait to try these this season, looking forward to running the snot outta these Orion's!!! :ha:

I've run the 7mm exclusively on all my mills. They seem to offer the most power - runtime balance..

2013 versus 2058
The 2013 has alot of bottom but still great top like it a lot
The 2058 has good bottom alot of mid and top too much i think all the mid power doesnt help me i am going back to 2013 also does sound cool
By the way my runtime with 2013 was better due to not having to get on it as hard on ottom
