The only thing you could use in Alpha/ABI is the bearings, crank, and rod. And carb if you really wanted. Crank may have slightly different timing, but will work. The p/s won't fit in an Alpha/ABI.

bogging

engine: orion alpha crf 5 port
pipe: orion 2058
glowplug: orion #5
fuel: byron 30%
clutch: associated 1.0 spring
temp 250
tanks run i engine +20

the engine bogs when first accelerating the it clears up. tried leaning and richening low end needle but the ptoblem is still there.

any ideas?

Needle balance is off. Either the low end is lean and the top is to rich or the low end is rich and the top is to lean and check the clutch over to make sure thats not the problem.Put the engine back to factory setting and retune:nod:

Your needles are flipped flopped, too lean on the top end, richin your top till it go away then lean out your bottom, it can be a fine line at times.

Cody King Website

Hey Guys. Check out Cody's new site. Just getting going with limited set-ups and news, but slowly we will add content and post live from the races. Right now you can find recent news, Cody's schedule, a bio for Cody and mylsef, and other news and resources at the bottom of the page. I can't believe Charles Barkley is promoting his website the same day as Cody, what a poser.. besides, Cody's golf swing is WAY better than Barkley's. It's tureble.. :) http://www.codykingrc.com

Just wondering...
Team Orion came out with the limited Neo11 engine - and the website told us that everything with this engine has improved compared to the standard crf alpha engines...
Now the limited Neo11 is sold out and from this time on we all have to buy the older version again missing all the updates...?
This is why I think or should I say hope that some updated engines will be available soon...
Does anybody know something more in this direction or am I just dreaming...

pitpop said the neo wasnt any different than a crf 3 port.

blitzfritz 01-29-2012 04:01 AM

Well, the website told us, that the crank case is strengthened, different stroke times and so on...
So I fear one of them must be wrong...:)

do the orion crf .21 engines need like 5 minutes to warm up before they clear up? mine stays rich for quite a bit when first starting.
i managed to fix the bogging problem by putting a new clutch, #6 glow plug with 30% nitro and retuning the engine.
How is the compression supposed to be with these engines? Seems like less than my Novarossi.

CRF QUESTION

I am going to ask in this thread because the CRF thread seems dead.
I am looking for the factory needle settings for Orion .28 Rev CRF. Also why I am here the Orion .24 CRF. Thanks!

pitpop 02-01-2012 07:01 PM

you don't trust me over a press release and marketing hype? jk! I'm sure the crank case material must be different, but very similar. Adrien will have some new items for 2012. They are working hard on that, and if the Neo is sold out they will replace it with something. They are working on some new and improved internals. We are running some new stuff and it works really well and has tons of smooth power. Adrien works really hard on the feeling of the power. He's a racer himself, so he likes the engine to feel good.

We haven't run the 28, and we are hesitant to give needle settings because we are running prototype stuff some times. I would hate to give out wrong info. On our carbs both needles flush is rich, so we are just below level on both.

Horizon is sending me a new disco 5 port. Has anyone used the Losi RE12 pipe on a Disco 5 port?
