If you can't find anything else that works I've heated up a Orion header a little a bent it to the angle of the nova header. It may not be the best thing to do but I did it when I ran mugen a while back. Hope this helps

I too am looking forward to the correct answer, but I think it probably has something to do with directing the in coming charge or some junk like that. Either that or because the head is fitted to the sleeve according to gaps, and that indicates where the exhuast should be for best seal?

Thanks Greg for posting the positive stuff. Seems like all that ever comes out on the forums is negative, and then people seem to think that is the majority, when it is in fact not the case. The LARGE majority of people who own any team orion engine are very happy with it, and especially the life span. They run a long time if treated well.

I would never talk down to anyone, it's just a case of not being able to detect someone's tone by reading on the internet. I just want to help, and it's not always easy. I take a lot of heat just because I tell it like it is and don't sugar coat stuff for people. Your problem seems totally different than what Jason is saying, yet he used you to build his case. That bothered me. If your head button is leaking, there has to be a perfectly good answer why. If you want to send it to me I will look at it and if it's defective, I will give you a new one. The big answer is... it is marked where the plug coil is SUPPOSED to be attached to the plug housing. This cold spot is best arranged near the exhaust port. It probably doesn't mean nearly as much with the turbo plugs these days, but back when everyone was running standard plugs, I imagine it could make quite a difference. I say it's "supposed" to reflect the location because occasionally it is mis-marked. You would be better served to screw a plug in and look at it from the inside, then put the button on. :)

Such a no-brainer for anyone wanting an engine. New aluminum body carburetor, and turbo button, for such a low price. It's pretty crazy. I would buy this engine in a heart beat. It brings tears to my eyes.. :cry: :smile:

I was actually really hoping to make it to the Sidewinder Nitro Challenge and approach you there. I'm certainly not at your level but I'm also not a newb when it comes to tuning. I'm having major difficulties tuning this damn thing. I swear its leaking air somewhere. What's the King Schedule looking like for the upcoming weeks? Maybe I'll get lucky and see you at an event.. Obviously it would have to be a So-Cal track. Or maybe I could just send you the engine and you can have a look at it, that's of course if you have the time. Anyway, I'll PM you.

sounds cool.. we will be at JBRL finals at Hot Rod Hobbies next week (rain or shine!) and then Kyosho Fall Classic (KFC) at Revelation the following week. After that it's holidays and Toys for Tots in Palm Desert. I highly recommend that race for anyone. It's a really nice atmosphere and for a great cause. Just a lot of fun.

I have often said, installing and tuning a 1/8 off road buggy engine is the hardest thing to do in RC. The engine is under the most ridiculous conditions it could possibly be; dirt, heat, and just basic abuse bouncing all over the place and slapping on the ground relentlessly. On top of that, the engine has to idle predictably, have a good power band with smooth delivery on bottom and mid-range, and it needs to be fast on top end too. Of course much of this relates to the clutch and gearing too, making it that much easier. :)

Nah, we can beat Stormers prices. The only reason anyone can advertise it at a low price and be different is the fact that there is no MAP pricing policy on this engine.

Does it actually have ceramic bearings in it as stated in the Description? If so that really is an excellent price..

I don't believe it comes with ceramic bearings. I'm of the opinion the Horizon website is inaccurate. Orions description of the engine has no mention of ceramic bearings either. Here's the description from their site.

Discos i have two of them both came with steel bearings not ceramic and stormer hobbies is cheapest prices around on almost anything u need

The Engine Pitpop linked isn't listed as a "Discovery" though, just an Alpha..

I enjoy mine but also love my Speed engine. Lots of choices these days.

Wow thats awesome customer service right there. I know of one other person that would do stuff like that to help support their products ( Steve Odonnel). I have been running the Orion Discovery motor's also.If anybody needs help locally in the san diego area you can pm me also and we can make time to dial you in. when i have had issues with what i thought was engine related idle, it turned out to be linkage and other related stuff. I always use some type of return spring or rubber band on the carb. Thanks Paul for the help you even give me at the races picking your brain for tips to improve. Anthony Howarth
