That's funny my combo came with the 2013. Everything I have read and everyone that I have talked said the 2013 and 2058 are basically identical pipes they just quoted the 2013 down a touch then called it a 2058. But the 2058 used to be a strictly onroad pipe

As were the 2013 and 2057 when they were first designed.. The really weird part is they make a 2013 off-road and a 2013 on-road pipe. The off-road pipe is longer even though the EFRA # is the same.. Weird..

And since I don't have the package in hadn yet, I don't actually know if it comes with a 2058 pipe, I am assuming it does since that is what the Horizon website says it has in it. But, my first Discovery combo is the same # ORI80678 and it had the 2013 in it..

Tebo or King WCE engine. Both are the same, the 5 ports seem to have the best of all worlds, good bottom, nice top, and a smooth transition through the mid.. The 5 CRF would fit the bill also.. If your on a budget check out the 5 port Discovery engines..

tonight will be the first night out on the track with the new Orion. i have spent the last few days with her in the street running tank after tank. i got 1/2 gallon on this motor already heat cycled of course and it hasnt even seen the track yet. planning on getting out there very early early to get some track time and more importantly some tune time. motor seems very crisp and very responsive so far

Discovery is the Budget line, and the CRF engines are full blown race engines. CRF's come with ceramic bearings, filled cranks, and some other nice features.. But, the Discovery engines are just as capable a race engine, it jsut doesn't have all the "nice" stuuf in them..

IMO, they messed up making the discovery so good. I have no urge to buy another CRF. I been running a B6 in my buggy due to something gettin behind my flywheel and trashing my front bearing seal on my discovery. It sucked some dirt (ok a lot of dirt, stained the whole inside red from the red clay), but still has good compression so i got some bearings coming to fix her up. But the discovery mill has more power all throughout the powerband over my b6 so far. I really am missing the power of the discovery right now.

I have my new Discovery in hand, and drum roll. It has a 2013 pipe set.. UH!! Not a big deal, the 2013 is very capable, and I know where I can borrow a 2058 from shuold I get the urge.. But I will say Horizon needs to change there info on this combo if it doesn't come with a 2058.. By the label it could literally come with any pipe. It says Combo Alpha Discovery 3.5cc Buggy (5T) W/Pipe The first one I got said 3.5cc Buggy Discovery ABI (ABC/5Ports) with EFRA 2013 pipe.. I think the labeling might be the difference in what Horizon sells direct and what send out to dealers, as the first was ordered from WV Hobbies and Crafts..

Break-in starts tomorrow around noon.. Hope to have a half gallon or more through it by end of Sunday..

According to some, the Discovery is not a Race engine though.. But I will agree that the Discovery with pipe for $240 when you can find it is a sweet deal, and the power is excellent.. A-Main sells the pipe for $120 alone.

Sidewinder something or another..

I was being sarcastic when I wrote that, because a spokes person of another engine brand said in this forum that the Discovery was a Sport engine, yet his $200 motor was a race engine..

BTW, The 2 engines are also made in ths same factory.. And without measuring look identical inside..

Well ran the discovery this weekend dropped its sack after first qual then couldnt get to stay idling think it has alot to do with the 2050 pipe i was running made the bottom end very very touchy either had two stage idle or too lean popping high rev idle very weird will try it again this weekend with 2013 pipe as i like alot of bottom end motor seemed to have ok power with 2050 on it but didnt want to idle and no run time 8 at most

Hmm

Your really wasting your time with any other pipe besides the 2013 or 2058. You will have zero runtime and results will always be less than perfect. If you try to run your Discovery at 200 degree's you will be hurting and scratching your head, wondering why you just got smoked down the straight. :sneaky:

240 to 260 seems to temp at on a full race tune.
