I agree. Break it in nice and easy and then at about 3/4-1 gallon mark. Tune it for racing and flog the snot out of it...

There are a few that will work but ive had great luck with the Orion #5 and #6. 5 is a touch easier to tune. The 6 runs great once you get the tune and gets 30 seconds or more run time.

Hi, Scotym/pitpop or someone to help me

I have a Team orion Cody King edition, so i used on a race last weeckend, was so difficult to tune the engine, i have years for experience tunning engines and i never had noticed this problem;

I am using 30%nitro Byron and Odonnel 30% i tried both ok
using stock shims that came with the motor
team orion #5 plug and tried #6 also
The main needle i have no problem ok
but the problem is when i start the engine warm it and later go to the track
i need to wait minimum 3 laps until the engine clean and runs ok , before this, the engine its sooooo rich, but thats ok, but when i came to pit the car was refueled and when exit from the hands of my mechanic the low end was sooooooooo rich again and the engine died a lot of times ok all of you will say the low end its so rich ok i came back to the track a day later just to find the engine tune points and learn the exatly point for tunning this engine, i lean more and more .... the low end needle to solve this, at one point the low needle was lean so i came back 1/8 on needle to rich just a little bit and again the engine back to sooooooooooo rich tunning point resuming i cant tune the low needle to perferct or becames sooooooooo rich or sooooooo lean, i tried also using my engine more rich on main needle and more lean on botton , and opposite tunning and nothing solves also the idle is the same problem to tune just can set; high rpm or "good" rpm on idle at this poit the engine dies easy
pm;just a note "when running on track the engine runs perfect ok, not too rich on botton and not too lean , but the problem is on refueling or on idle all times so i afraid to race because when i stop the car for just a few seconds or refueling the engine...

Thanks in advance

Are the Werks plugs the same as the orion?

They will work nicely, but Ron from Werks says they may be different.. And they are Turbo Plugs..

Side note I and a few others have used the O'Donnel 97T with some success, but due to some troubles I had with my last outing I think I am going to try a 77t, or go with some Orion plugs..

Check your fuel system for air leaks.. When racing it performs nicely but on a refuel it goes way rich.. Could be a leak in the seam of the tank.. Replace fuel lines just to be safe..

With out being there it is very hard to diagnose your problem. I suggest asking for help from someone at the track..

How much fuel on the motor? What is your idle gap set at?

Thanks, anyway all lines and fuel tank are perfect, could you tell me what settings (needles turns) are you using in your team orion engine, also the headshims mine came std from factory total 0,9mm (i do not know if you use a 5 port engine or world edition cody, tebo)

Thanks a lot

Anyway, difficult to tell you the gap from idle because its difficult to measure inside the carb... anywaycould you tell me what settings (needles turns) are you using in your team orion engine also the headshims mine came std from factory total 0,9mm (i do not know if you use a 5 port engine or world edition cody, tebo)

I run the micheal truhe edition 5 port my needle are maybe 1/2 a turn in on bottom and almost flush on high end. I think i have 3 head shims but i dont know what they measure. I will measure and let u know. Your idle gap should be that u just barely see it with the carb insert in. Should be pretty close. You may want to go back to flush on carb settings and start over. I always get the high end set first then the low end and idle. But u probably know that

Thanks Stallen for tell me your settings i will try again starting on rich side both needles, i did it but will try again...... maybe this is a signal for bad burning glowplugs , but i tried more than one and the plugs were ok, whta plugs(brand and numb(did you tried OS plugs or others?) do you use ?do you use 30%nitro?

Thanks

30% nitro team orion #5 or #6 plugs about flush on top and 1-1&1/2 turns in on bottom with a 2013 pipe in a buggy with the discovery 5 port motor. thats where i am at right now and motor seems to be running pretty damn good. could be simple as you got a small a small air leak. before you start trying to re-tune the motor, and spend hours at the track and tank after tank of fuel just to get frustrated, i would take the motor apart, go through and clean it thoroughly, and then put it all back together and seal it all back up properly. very common place for an air leak is at the base of the carb where it slides into the block. its just cheap assurance and only takes about an hour. better than chasing your tail for hours and days on in just to continue to get frustrated.

How many gallons with solid performance do you guys get from your TO engines?

We've now had 3 Tebo/King engines becomming unstable when starting at the 5th gallon. They run ok, but seems to lack power and keeps stopping on track and in the pits. temp is stable and this is in three different cars so a leak in the fuel system is unlikely.
We are not able to tune them to a steady performance anymore so I'm just wondering if they are at the end of their line...
