Is it me or do the GO motors tend to smoke alot? I am running Byrons 30% Race blend. Motor temps are running between 220 F and 235 F using a hot plug. The motor has 1 fuel bottle over a gallon on it and it blows out great. But I just noticed it seemed to blow alot more smoke then what I am used to. Also I am using the Alpha 2090 pipe with a 8mm insert. I just boiled it in antifreeze before putting it on the motor for break in. I did let it dry completely and made sure all the anti freeze was out. I guess it is just the nature of the motors? I doesn't bother me where as as long as I am seeing smoke I know the motor is oiling. And thus far the GX 7 is an impressive motor. I had to drop to .9 springs in my clutch to help tone down the snappy bottom end. It seems to work better as I roll the throttle slowly and it responds very well to it. Also got a few pointers from another man running Go motors also and I will see how they work this weekend also.

Just a question why boil the pipe in antifreeze?

I'v heard it's a great way of cleaning your pipe inside and out, thou I'v never actualy done it myself.

GEN 4 .21 question

I have a .21 Gen 4 5 port engine that I have never used. I took the con rod out of it to put in another GO engine. My question is, can I buy a new generation con rod and put it in the .21 Gen 4 5 port? Or will I need a new crank as well? Thanks

MAGPIE-121 02-12-2012 05:10 PM

you'll need the crank as well as it now has a larger pin

incorrect. same part number, and same dimensions.

ecko' 02-12-2012 06:42 PM

hey who can order the new carb from? any idea on price?

Ruune 02-12-2012 07:52 PM

get the arrow one from hobby pro usa. The arrow carb is exactly the same as the new Go carb:

please check you information before you go misleading the family of GO engine users Ruune as the diameter of the rod hole for the crank pin on the GEN 4/5 is 4.7?mm & the newer rod diameter is 4.93mm, so while the newer rod will fit the old crank it doesn't last long because of the extra play & leads to disappointment due to poor engine performance & a much shorter life.
hence if herb99 buys the new, lighter & balanced, crank & rod he'll be another happy GO engine user with an engine that really rips.

i think runne is just trying to help, after all he is the one that got GO ENGINES popular in the states. thanks to him or otherwise GO might not be as big as it is now here. i feel it is not needed to be sarcastic. a simple reply of your opinion would have done well.

Thanks D-MAIN... although I misread the original question, I wasnt going to dignify MAGPIE's smartass comment with a response. Not worth my time.

i think that my post was correct, & in the same tone as ruunes reply, as that sort of misinformation is what turns people away & then they bag out the engines after it fails prematurely, if people get the right info in the first place they will get a lot of enjoyment & tell others about it.

I'd really like to know what Swift distributing plans on doing with their Go Engine inventory?????????
All I've seen on A-Mains web site is parts and pieces. Starting to wonder why they wanted the line if their not going to do anything with it........Think I got an idea now  :flaming:

Maybe someone has some inside info that can enlighten us.
