I'd rather not try it. Even if I could get her so far, my car would probably drive in reverse when she finished.:sneaky:

Racing
Well I plan on racing today at that little indoor track, I hope that I don't break anythang else!!!!! Ihave reading the tuning bible, so I read it an took my truggy and fired it up, an adjusted the low end needle like it said, An backed out the idle screw until it idle low, but how do u know when to stop leaning the bottom end???? I stoped leaning it buy the pinching the fuel line, ( about 1 inch from the tank) and hold it for 5-6 seconds, then the engine start to lean out and die. Is this a good method?????
I see u grizz, lend me ur knowledge!!!!!!!!!!! |

Once you have the 6 - 7 sec pinch, run the buggy and fine tune the LSN for a crisp take off. Most of the tuning is done with the LSN (providing you have the long needle carb). Once you have a good clean take off and running up to 3/4 throttle, now you can tweak the HSN just a hair to clear out the top end if required. The HSN will not need to go in more than an 1/8 of a turn from the factory flush setting as a rule. When you have the tune set, leave the LSN pretty much alone, and adjust for day to day changes in temp and air pressure with very small adjustments of the HSN - very small !! Remember if you make larger adjustments on the HSN for any reason (although you should not have too), this will effect the LSN settings too, so re adjust the LSN accordingly. Hey Guys - Put the 19th tank through my GX-3R motor today (for next seasons club racing). I am very impressed with this motor. I had never run a 3 Port before, so thought I would give one a try this coming year. Running 1.1 springs with all alloy shoes, and it has gobs of bottom end, and a lovely smooth power band. Pretty good top end too, for a model of motor that supposedly runs out of legs a little - maybe the previous models, but not the GX one :sneaky: It fair screams :) It actually drives like the MG66 in a de-tuned sort of way :p. You can't really compare the two, but the power band is similar. For a nice easy to drive motor with ample power for most tracks it's a good choice from the GX range. If you want pure power and aggressive performance in your buggy, the 7 Port is still the way to go IMO. |
i like my 3 port to grizz i on some tracks its hard to tell the differance between the 3 and 5 port IMO , i have never had any problems with the 3 port running out of legs at all...
i i will put my 3 port in for the folowing race meet to  |
well it is decidede i much prefer the 2072 pipe in performance i found it gave me much more top end with the 7 port and better bottem end thats what it felt like to me anyway , also i think i much prefer my MG66 :D

You should set the LSN for a 6 - 7 second pinch when its been warming up for about a minute. This will get the LSN pretty close. Once the motor is fully warmed up this pinch time will drop right down to about 3 sec because the hot crankcase is vapourising the fuel more effectivly.

Grizz, Try a softer clutch spring on your 3 port, something lik 1.0 or even .9 if you are running 3 shoe aluminum, the 3 port have lots of bottom, so 0.9 or 1.0 give you a smooth start and helps on fuel economy a little, cya |
Good report
Well I got ten minutes of run time out of the truck, and the buggy got 9 minutes.

Hi All,
Changed the restrictor on the gx 7 pt from a 6.5 to 7, set the needles to flush, set the idle to cut out when pinching pipe and raise the revs slightly, set the lsn after running on the box for a minute to cut out at about 7 secs, ran buggy for 8 min practice at track and tweeked the hsn to get better top end as was no power at third to full throttle, this was ok power wise after adjustment . ran next quals for 6 mins and checked the temp as soon as i stopped and it was 120 deg, car had very erratic tic over where when throttle released engine would run high for 5 secs then drop low and stall, any idea what i did wrong? had to turn hsn about 1 turn in. track temp was about 4 deg and damp. ran 15 min final and got 8 min tank, temp after final was 150 deg thanks kevin |
