All ready this end. The X-Ray has had a complete strip down, check over and rebuild. New bearings all round and it's rolling smooth as (you would expect no less from the X-Ray though). It has the MG66 implanted and purring. Would have liked a few more tanks on the motor, but work and weather has put paid to that.
Got 3 litres through now, but it will be fully loose by the end of the weekend :sneaky:
CU in the Tron on Friday morning. Safe us a spot in the usual place if you get there before us.

dusted off the 5 port for a run at Proline on the weekend powered by some of Massives best and it was on fire!

I'm using Answer long life alloy shoe's, 2 X 1.1 and 1 X 1.0 on a std. Xray 3 shoe flywheel. It's providing a much crisper take off than 3 X 1.0 springs.With the 808 being so light I don't think 3 X 1.1's are needed, now I've tried this combo.

I guess my motor having consumed right on a UK gallon (4.5L) has a little more to go before she really comes alive.

Really took on these new GO motors, along with the MG66 (think I will run 1 of these next race season :sneaky:) I really can't see why people would want to pay more. the preformance to ££ factor is simply unbeatable IMO.

i haven't seen the new Go GXR's run in real life but being in sydney i'm lucky enough to have a Massive Mods Team Driver at my track as well as 3 other guys running the MG66 and i can vouch for the fact that there a beast of an engine whether its buggy or truggy!!!!

i've driven a MG66 in a Losi 2.0T and it was ballistic how hard they thing pushed the truggy. when the boys opened them up above 80% at the Proline on the weekend they seriously kicked ass!!!

Hey Grizz.

Could you post or PM me with your tuning tips?

I have a shiny new 25 from AMain. I'm fairly certain that it has the shorter needle in the carb. I know I'll have to preheat to deal with the pinch. I'm hoping to get this done without ovaling the bottom of the conrod.

I'm just hoping to get a clue from people that have solid experience with these mills.

Yep the GO motors have to be the best deal out there I reckon. Just remember to change the rod at around 9 litres after she is bedded in. Throw a new wrist pin and retaining clips in too just for peace of mind (not expensive), and she will be good for many litres of race time. Keep an eye on the bearings and replace when needed. I change my bearings every 14 litres or so, even if they feel fine. 14 litres in a race engine is plenty of work for any bearing. It's the old "stich in time saves nine" philosophy I guess.

Interesting.

I have compared the two motors at seperate meetings on the same track, and the best way I can describe it is that the MG66 drives more like a 3 PortR Spec, but on steroids :lol: The power band seems similar, and very drivable, where as the 5 Port (which is a wicked motor by the way Massive :nod:) can be a bit "peaky" if you try to drive it hard.

No one told me that, the low and high speed needles interchange between the Nova and Go. The spray bar orfice is within .001" in size. I was also told the first Go was patterned off the P5 Nova.

I got the go-tech 3 port from rb mods. I love it. Just take your time breaking it in. Also what model did you get 3/5/7 port? Is it a gen 5 or 5.5?

grizz nothing spells fun than a motor on steroids mate :lol:
