I think the V-Spec has alway's used a long low speed needle. The difference is the Os carb has quite a bit larger spray bar orfice and the Go carb is a direct copy of the Novarossi carb that has a smaller spray bar orfice.

Wow !! who's been a bust boy then
Track is pretty cool. It's average length (about 45 sec avg lap time). Has a longish back straight and a pretty long front straight with a little kink about half way down it. You get pretty good speed up on the front straight, as in just about wound right out, then it's all brakes and into a 180 degree very tight hairpin with a little hump on the apex. The rest of the track is pretty tight and twisty, so you will need plenty of steering dialled in and good rotation through the corners. No big jumps (unless they built one in the last couple of weeks). Double jump with small table top and a tricky little triple jump that comes straight out of a tight corner. It's a nice track and fun to drive on. Just hope the weather doesn't spoil the party too much. I am really looking forward to three days of track time with the MG66

Just found a couple of pics from a few months ago. Track is pretty much the same, with just a few small jumps and humps added since these photos.

Hey guys, can you tell me what is this MG66 engine????????
I can't find this engine here in Canada, and my GO engine distributor don't know anything about this engine.

Is a better mills than my GO GX-5R????

zonda 09-29-2009 05:14 AM

Hi, running a GO 5 port with all Alloy clutch shoes. what springs would you suggest? 0.9, 1.0 or 1.1 ?

Also one more thing. does an engine loose its bottom end punch when its compression starts to go? I can turn my engine over by hand fairly easily.

thanks

mattwoodcraft 09-29-2009 05:48 AM

if you can turn it over very easy and no compression is felt it is time for a rebuild engines usually have trouble idling and will flame out easy with very low compression to..

the MG66 is a mooded motor from factory made to massives specs it is awsome for the full run down check out the web site massivemods.com.au

the gx5r is a awsome motor to i had it in my truggy befor it blew up was my fault forgot to charge the receiver pack :D

dakamat 09-29-2009 06:54 AM

And i supose your truck goes WOT:lol:
This is the reason i always put an hold manifold spring on all my trottle servo horn;)

mattwoodcraft 09-29-2009 07:10 AM

yep WOT she reved for a good 5 sec befor comming to a complete destroyed stop any way i now use 2 springs around the carb and have set the fail safe up in my hand set i have been racing nitro for quiet some time and it was tyhe first time this happened never to late to learn thats for sure :D

Gizmatron 09-29-2009 09:06 AM

watch out for setting the failsafe with brakes full on..I had a mechanic forget to disconnect the buggy battery after a race and so as soon as I shut of the handset it went to full brake failsafe position..Must have been 10 minutes b4 I got my car back after passing it through the control station by which time the servo had burned out completely..springs or rubber bands on the carb are much better ..or just make sure you always charge your batteries.

I hear Fx was thinking about ordering the Mg66 in Canada. I am sure it's a very good engine and I will probably try one out sometime. I can't imagine needing more power than a 5 port though.

Springs will depend on if your running it in buggy or truggy, and the track surface you have.
Stock 5 Port in a buggy - 3 x 1.0mm springs. Stock in a truggy 2 x 1.1mm and 1 x 1.0mm. If the track is really hooking up and you can use the full power - 3 x 1.1mm springs. Try these combo's and see what works for your situation.

Hi Rex. You would like the MG66 mate. It's not really about the power with this engine, it's more about the drivability of it, and the way you can use the power it has. See if you can get your hands on one and give it a try.

Thanks again for the PM Grizz1.

I tuned the motor today as you suggested and it really does seem to give a good result with these GX series motors. A completely new way of tuning to me, but IT WORKS

I couldn't say I really ended up with the needles set differently (although I haven't checked), But I did get a good tune far faster than tuning HSN first.

Can't believe it's still got pinch, But once warmed up she runs lovely. Just waiting for it to fully run in now to see if I gain a little run time.

As I keep saying ..... So far, well impressed with my GO GX7R

Sweet, glad the system works. That's how Mark at Massive Mods recommends you tune the long needle carbs, and if anyone knows about these motors it's him.
You will gain some run time and some more power when the 7 Port is fully bedded in. I reckon around 7 litres for the newer Gen 5.5 and GX motors.
What clutch set up are you running ? I always found 3 x 1.1 springs worked well on the 7 Port, as they just need a little more time to clear out and wind up before the clutch hits than the 3 or 5 Ports.
