hey ben depending on where you by them from they should be 5.5s although there may still be some older stock around, you could PM either myself or grizz and we may be able to hook you up with a 5.5.:sneaky:

the main thing to look for is the GO logo on the carb as the 5.5 carb has a coloured logo on it.

I have a Go 7 port and was racing last week when the fuel filter came off afterwhich the car would start but at more than 3/4 throttle it would stall
It is idling well but there is a rhythmic chirping sound in the engine when idling
what can this be, is it the bearing, rear or front? is there a bird inside the engine?
What can I do for this engine?

Just wondering what you guys run for plugs on the 7 port .21s? I just bought one with a truggy and want to be prepared :)

Also, how long do these engines typically last? Mine has about 3.5 gallons on it and want to get every drop I can out of this little powerhouse!

gtx i run os p3 turbo plugs. they run forever and produce great power. you will be fine with that.

these engines will last a long time if treated right. if you misuse the motor it will have a short life span.

To be safe I would change the rod in the motor you got. These motors are notoriously tight when new, and it pays to change the rod at 2 gallons due to the strain it goes through during break in.
After that, if you change the bearings when required, and maybe a new rod, wrist pin and clips at say every 3 gallons (not expensive), I would expect if it was broken in gently to get up to 10 gallons out of the motor.
If you just run all the original parts into the ground, then life of the motor will be reduced. GO parts are not expensive, so it's worth it as the 7 is a sweet little motor.

Wow alright. I'll have to take off the backplate and inspect the rod first before I run it, then order one up from Amain. I saw they had pretty good prices but some stuff is out of order. Anyone else to get parts?

Thanks for the help guys, I can see you guys rave about these little mills.

Rex (22Racer) can probably help you out with parts.
Check the big end on the rod for slop where it fits over the crank pin. With the hard break in, the bushings can get a little ovalled and that's where the problem starts. I would change the rod regardless. They are only about US$15 I think (going on the price in my currency). Then you can give it heaps and not be worried :sneaky: Everyone has different ideas about engine maitainence. I change the internals as mentioned above every 3 gal. Some might say it's overkill, but I haven't had one problem with either of my GO's in two years, so that's what I recommend to others

gtxracer 06-18-2009 03:48 PM

Well that sounds like a good plan to me. Thanks for the tips! Do you know, by chance, if the 5 port rod and the 7 port rod are different at all? Amain has those but no others except with the piston/rod/sleeve combo.

The rods are all the same. Yes I agree the P3 is an awesome plug I used them all last year. But I got hip to the OD 77T which where I am is $5.50 to where the P3 is $11 so I am trying the 77T now I have like alittle over a gallon on 1 and its still going.

I gotta tell you though guys - that A-Main C2 Blue Dot is da bomb when it comes to fuel :sneaky:

in all honesty grizz it is the best fuel i have run since i started racing.

when i 1st started out i used Amain 25% which is also a great fuel!, then bounced around trying out different brands to basically see what was out there, then one of the MM team drivers got me to try some C2 and since then i have never looked back!

i've just finished my 1st 4.5L of Blue Dot and have already polished off a bottle or 2 of the standard C2 and my engines are loving it as are my results.....

im running byrons fuel and it rus great. No problems here with the fuel. The one Go-tech motor that I have has given me problems a few times but the other 7pt I have hasnt given me too many problems at all. I had to replace the crank for some reason the part where it connects to the rod was bent. Cant complain though. motor parts are real cheap

I am using sidewinder 30% worlds. yesterday I picked up 2 gallons of byrons 30%gen2 pro driver. rec. by a friend who swears by it. He use to run the sidewinder. I'll give it a shot. what are you using for after run oil? I heard marvelous mystery oil works good. any one try it?

tagalong_74 06-18-2009 05:28 PM

Im using hobbico after run oil. Im using 25% gen 2 worlds byrons. I used to use 30% but recently switched because I did not notice any bit of power difference and 25% makes for better longevity
