Thanks for the info Giz. Sounds like it's all it's cracked up to be
Good info on the clutch set up too. What you said about the 7 Port with the 3 x 1.1 springs is spot on. It does sort of wind up a bit before things happen, but with all 1.0's on a grippy track it's bog city. What you have might be the perfect set up for my home tracks, I will give it a try (although the 7 will be relegated to my hooning / practice motor soon :)). The MG66 power band sounds similar to the Stage 5 5 Port, but with a lot more on tap if required I'm thinking. Being similar, you might like to experiment with 3 x alloy shoes with 2 x 1.1 springs and 1 x 1.0 spring. This works a treat on my Stage 5. I ran all 1.0 springs with alloy shoes for a while on the 5, but the two 1.1 springs just give it a bit more snap without getting it out of shape. I'm guessing the extra power of the MG66 might dictate the use of the 3 x 1.0 springs that you have installed however :). Worth a try though, but you might have trouble keeping the front down - he he he. |
giz it seems you are having a good time running your new motor in

MG66
Well boys..10 tanks through the MG66 so far and this thing is an animal..pulls the lighter clutch spring and higher gearing without a hitch..smoooooth down below and screams at the top..best of all worlds and I haven't even begun to lean it yet..I am just in LOVE with this motor..tomorrow is forecast sunny and 28ºC and i'm being paid and fed to run in the motor all day and generally be a hooligan...F.A.B mr tracy!!!!

I'm about to finish break-in of my Caster MK2, and just started tuning it.
Whats the general rule with this mill, lean on bottom and rich on top? I really havent done much with HSN, did not take much at all, it screams with a nice trail of smoke. Bottom end on the other hand hesitates. The Caster MK2 are supposed to be basically the same as the GO 5-port. The bottom sounds nagging, like it should be on the lean side, but my attemt to rich it just made it worse. Temp doesent indicate lean setting either. It idles great, and responds fine, but seems to lack some power. I'm running it with Dynamite 086, would JP2/4 be a better alternative or should I rather go for a torque pipe, like the Nova 9901? |

Generally the GO's like a fairly rich top and a little leaner bottom, but that will depend on what low speed needle you have. I would suspect you have a standard low speed needle, so you could run the top end a little leaner then the GO's perhaps. If it's only new and you don't have that many tanks through it, it will still be tight. This pinch will sap a bit of performance. Don't lean it too much trying to get it to perform until the pinch eases, or you will possibly do some damage. On the GO 5 Ports (gen 4 and 5) the metal pinch is with the motor until 1.5 - 2 gal. Your motor may be a little different, but I think you will find it will still be tight and this is what is causing it to seem sluggish. Be patient with it. It will loosen up all of a sudden and then run great. What clutch springs are you running. It's not loading up too early and getting a little boggy ?? The Dynamite 086 should be sweet. The 5 Ports run great on the 086. The other pipes I would recommend in order of preference would be the new GO 2072, or the GO 0801 (both have longer headers than the 086). The JP pipes don't work too well on the GO's, so they would be the same on the Castor I would think. They are a bit flat, and economy is not great. |
Thank's, I'll give it some more time.
I thought of the clutch as well, but its brand new RMV, and it works fine. |

I dont see where nobody cant get nothing here I can and ask 22racer where he gets his stuff from? Racefactorindustries is here and not gone it basically was to supply hobby shops. And Russell does have the GX line coming in he just likes to have all old stuf out before he brings in new. I can understand that myself as I have my own buisness and hate having 1 or 2 of the "old" thing on the shelf because its hard to get rid of. Thats all just be patient and all will be well. Trust me I want a GX5 too but I can wait.
