grizz1,
Thanks for giving such a valuable info, will report later how I got right my 5port, but tell me seriously-how you get HSN flush.... The point is, flush can be little left and little right...at least half turn, do you put something flat on top? Sorry dumb, but honest question;) |
Yes you can if you need to set something over the needle to make sure its flush why not.

It's not uncommon for the GO front bearings to weep a little. I have had two like that, and the motor runs fine. They are not leaking as such, just weeping a little oil through the seal. It is something in the design of the bearing cage I believe. They are good bearings though, and last well.
You may be rich on the bottom if you are getting a lot of oil out the front bearing, especially on a new motor when things are not fully bedded in. Maybe richen the top a little more if it's dying on throttle. Thanks grizz, I'll be out later on today to try again. |

Novarossi, here I come! |
Having the same dieing issue with my 21 5 port, have about 4 tanks through it and have not got even 1 minute without dieing. Factory plug went weak, not burnt out so I put a 97T plug in and its running, but I think this carb is so touchy, it is gonna be a pain to get tuned. Have tried to follow the settings list on 453 and I'm getting there I think, but dang! Very frustrating. I actually have one of the Econo Nova's (Novarossi N21BF Limited Edition .21 )on the way, because I'm not sure I can trust this thing. Sounds real heathy when its running, but so far, cant keep it this way. Wish one of you Go Guru's lived in the KC area!!

For the guys having tuning issues, there are "traditional" needles made for the GO carbs. I belive 22racer files the stock LSN down on them too. See other brands of carbs you can go in larger incraments to tune them, GO's just need very small 1/2 hour turns to make a difference. It can be frustrating at 1st but when you get it right you wont have to touch it again. And if you do its due to weather, or moisture thats it. I went I belive 2 1/2 months last year without touching my carb. It was summer and hot. Just be patient. For the guy who got the Nova Limited if all fails and you cant get the GO carb tuned put the Nova carb on there thats the best part of that mill, and I am not sure wether you have the 3 5 or 7 port but all 3 race .21 Go mills will out perform that Nova. I am not knocking Nova at all they are awesome. And i hear our Go's are based off nova patents. That is a great little mill for $150 street price. The nova guys i know use them for buggy, on small tracks and the guys with deep pockets use them for practice. A little under powered for truggy unless modded.

If you have just fired it up and are expecting it to run normally when it's that tight it just won't happen. Bump the idle up so it stays running when you hit the brakes for a few more tanks, and just be patient with the break in. |

Stick with it. If you only have 4 tanks through it, you have another 30 to go before it's broken in  You are running it super rich, gently in figure of eights - yes ? (prefferably with foil on the head to keep the temps up).

So watch out all Nova dealers, here's a guy who's going to buy all your rods
It was 3 gallons old, I bought a new rod when I got the engine, and since its a GO with the kung fu pinch I should have replaced it.I told myself that to, but I tried to stretch it for one last race. I did everything I could to ensure its long life (preheating for half its life too) Don't get me wrong I LOVED the engine. It RIPPED, could hang with or beat anything down the straights, loads of bottom for a 7 port and got 10 minutes a tank and I'll rebuild it to keep as a backup. I just don't mind spending the extra $ now on an engine where I don't really have to worry about that. Just think they could easily resolve the issue just by easing the pinch on them a little |

It usually wont run long enough to run figure 8's, LOL I get it running, feel good about setting it down, go out the garage and maybe get the 1st 0 of an 8 and will die. It's not as tight with pinch as it was. I can turn the flywheel over by hand now, whereas when it was band new- no way! had to use a heat gun to get it to turn on the starter box. Now it will crank by itself, so ......anyways, its a challenge continues....

running engines so much fun  but yet very rewarding when its done and your having a fat time at the track :):)
|
the previous engine i raced with was grp tuned and this motor was very fustrating had no bottem end even tried different pipes and all of a sudden after 2.5 gallons it finally made power .... i was shocked but i just had it for this motor in the end ,was very reliable gave it to my brother in the end
