-Steve This is so subjective question. We do not know the each personal preference or the actual track conditions they run on. We can just make suggestions what might work. If you are not sure go with 5pt, if you need high speed and strong mid-top then go with 7pt, if you want linear engine with good top end and affordable price go with r-spec. Match these with proper pipe, do the break in well and off you go and newer look back :p |
i've been doing a bit of searching around the net and other forums and it seams more people are running the 5port engine.
i wanted the 7 port i think more so for the "wank" factor, but i'm now leaning towards the 5 port modified engine. our track is quick, but like Poinas2 said, for the tracks that have jumps straight after a turn the 5 port gives that little bit better down the bottom. i'm sure this engine would be more suited to the majority of the tracks out there... |

I have a .25 on order. Was wondering how it compares to the 5 port .21? It is going into a truggy and the tracks are not very large.

i've seen a lot f local guys running the 3 port, they say a nova carb wakes it up all around and helps with tuning. i'm getting one today to test out this weekend in my truggy.

Carb inserts restrict the air flow into the carb , also reducing the fuel needed for the required fuel mix. Reducing air intake and fuel intake reduce power slightly but increase tank time. We tried this on the weekend with a 6 mm restrictor in a 5 port , in buggy and were getting 11.15 with the 0801 pipe . oodles of power and top end. Match these with proper pipe, do the break in well and off you go and newer look back :p LOL my bad, it's a habit, yes I'm speeking of modded engines, our 7 ports are all modded, but i can say this, so many people are running 7 ports is truggy and kickin tail, the 7 can be desieving, but clutch it and pipe it right and you don't need any more motor. as for running a 5 port, they can have so much more topend, but to me the modded 7 is the best GO engine IMO |

If your racing very competivley, going smaller will aid in increased runtime, and smoothness, we are running a IDRC 6mm insert in the 7 ports, getting 10 to 12 min runtime and TQing and winning A mains, these mills rock. Yes, the GO .25 is a True Truggy motor. |
