Your eagerness to help never ceases to amaze me Grizz! Great info as usual but I'd like to add another thing to peek at when an engine consistently leans out after 1/2 tank.

Half-tank lean can be caused by gunked up HS needle as others have said. But 1/2 tank lean may also not be the engine at all! It's worth having a look at the clunk and pressure lines for leaks and cuts. I debur those fuel line fittings and use a 2-3mm sliver of fuel tube as a collar to keep the lines down tight. Mugens are notorious for tank and line issues like that. Food for thought...

+1 on cleaning out the high speed needle jet. Any little bit of gunge in there can cause major problems. Remove the high speed needle and flush out the housing with fuel. Check your needle O rings are in good shape too.

Tuning wise on the short needle version, bog like that would normally suggest the bottom end is a tad lean, but thinking a bit more about it, if it's only doing it below half a tank then I am favouring it being just a fraction too lean on the top end (as the HSN is the first needle in the fuel system to offer resistance to the fuel flow from the tank, especially as the tank level drops and it's harder to pressurize when you quickly open the throttle). If this is the case normally just richening by an hour or two will be enough to solve the problem. The top end needles are very sensitive on these motors, so going too lean on the HSN is not hard to do.
I doubt it would be the pipe. The 086 is mint on the 3 and 5 Port motors. I have never actually run one on the 7 Port, but I remember someone on here using that combination and liking it.

this is great info Grizz ! where did you get it from ?

Hey Massive,
I picked up most of that stuff by reading some guys website from Australia :).
Seemed like he really knew what he was talking about, so I committed a lot of the info to memory  Site was Mass.... Mod... something like that. Great site and well worth a read :D

Yes, all fine where I am. We are made up of three seperate islands (two big and one very small). That 7.4 quake was on our South Island, and I live on the North Island. Not to many people hurt, but it has made a mess for sure.
I just hope it didn't wreck the track in Christchurch, as we are due to fly down there for the South Island Champs in 8 weeks time.

the news says that CHRISTCHURCH is all torn up!....i hope you guys still get to race!

We have our National Champs (3 day event) in 3 weeks time about 2 hours south of where I live, so at least we will get to race that with no drama.
Coming into our spring down here in the Southern Hemisphere after a very long, cold and WET winter. One of the wettest I can remember actually, so the boys are hanging out to burn some nitro :sneaky:
Club race day tomorrow if the weather plays ball :)

Guys,

I would just like to point out that a lot of the information given out in an attempt to help others on here has been gleaned from different sources over the years, and committed to the memory banks for future reference.
One of the principle sources of information for me over the last couple of years, has been the Massive Mods website at www.massivemods.com.au
Perhaps I have been remiss in passing on this information without making reference as to where it has been sourced from initially.
In some of my recent replies, the wording or phrases are very similar to what appears on the MM site (mostly due to my good memory :)), so credit where credit is due. If you haven't already checked out the MM site, go have a look.

As I mentioned previously please feel free to contact me at [email protected] with any questions regarding the GO range of motors.

Yeah I watched Mo run at the Ohio State Fair race. My LHS, Fastraxx's, is where I first heard of and started running the fuel. I admit I was skeptical cause I'd never heard of it only being in the hobby for 6 months but I'm glad he suggested it because my (P.O.S.) RTR motor has never run better because of it. It dropped my temps 20* and believe it or not I can for the most part run right with my friends race motors since I switched to it. Now if I can just get me a GX5R I might actually compete! Too many bills to afford a MG66 right now...:( But at the last club race I attended I was running 3rd out of 8 mixed sportsman and pro, with my RTR motor and original hard compound RTR tires. I've since ordered 2 sets of JC's (Crosshairs and Sevens). If I can get a good race engine soon I should be competing! I tell ya, I don't think the other racers liked me passing them in my bone stock RTR....:D

Thanks for the great fuel,
Rich

You'll have a PM from me as soon as I have the money in hand Dead! I just got a new place and the deposit really killed my flow this month... I got the JC's (2 sets) as brand new already mounted for under a bill shipped and I really couldn't afford that but I was really sick of fishtailing down straights and couldn't pass up that deal!

Oh, anyone know where I can purchase the Dynamite bump box? The one with the dual 775's like the Ofna blue box. I hear it's almost as good and a little cheaper.

Sorry to get off topic.
